Parmelee Out With Groin Injury.

Boy, talk about crummy timing. Just as Morneau leaves for the WBC, Parmelee hurts his groin and will be out will be out for a bit....

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Parmelee would be out "a few days here, I'm sure."

This naturally raises the question about who might go if Pamelee can't, though I would think he would be back in plenty of time (though groin injuries can linger). I would assume that would mean Hicks status in CF is cemented (If it hasn't been already) which means either starting Mastroianni (who is also hurt, I think) and having someone like Clete Thomas or Brandon Boggs on the bench OR bringing Joe Benson north for a little while. That seems a tad aggressive for a guy who was totally lost last year.

Even before the groin went bad, Parm did not do much this ST... Check out what Wilkin Ramirez is doing. I think that he might be the next RF if it continues like this (he was hurt last ST and missed all but 10 days...)

Dear World Baseball Classic,

Please go away. Or at least don't conflict with spring training.

It's embarrassing to see players who've almost all just had five

months off leave work the first or second week back.

Thanks,

Deolis Guerra could have a torn pectoral muscle.

Guerra has already been removed from Venezuela's World Baseball Classic roster and is headed to the Twins' spring training complex for further testing. He had been in line to compete for a spot in the Twins' Opening Day bullpen, but obviously that's out the window.

WBC, sucks durning spring training, should start with the world series.

Yeah, send worn down players to play in two more weeks of games. That's an even better idea to limit injuries.

I like the idea of the Twins starting the season with Hicks in center and Benson in right, if Parmelee is not ready. The pitchers could benefit from their defense and maybe the two rookies could feed on each other's success. I am going to miss watching Revere play defense, but having two fast rookies in the outfield could be fun to watch. Yes this would be a "tad" aggressive, but it seems to have a decent chance of success and not much downside if it fails.
