Some Interesting 2019 MILB Pitching Stats

Ran across some interesting 2019 milb pitching statistics that I thought I'd share from the recent Baseball America that arrived in my mailbox today.

These numbers can be skewed slightly for two reasons:

1] Some organizations have 7 milb affiliates, some 8, and some 9.

2] Some organizations could be top heavy at the upper affiliates with more experienced pitchers who could, again, skew numbers.

Of course, these 2 points could work for, or against, individual rankings.

In 2019, the Twins organization ranked 3rd in total SO/9:

1] Astros 10.31

2] Angels 9.62

3] TWINS 9.59

The Twins organization ranked 5th in BB/9:

1] Marlins 3.30

2] Mariners 3.33

3] Padres 3.36

4] White Sox 3.37

5] TWINS 3.40

Compiled, the Twins milb system finished 2nd in total SO/BB ratio behind only the Mariners:

1] Mariners 2.84

2] Twins 2.82

To be completely fair to the last days of the TR administration, there was the beginning of change in the system toward higher SO numbers and more powerful arms. It would take tons of research that I'm just not willing to do...to be honest...but about 4 years ago, before the current FO took over, various statistics were presented on air during a radio pre-game in which was reported a somewhat sizeable shift in SO numbers at the lower milb levels from the previous season. I think any of us who invest a lot of time and interest in the milb system could tell you there have been a ton of change over the past 3 years with the new administration in place. But I found this really interesting and worth sharing.

I suspected the Twins were doing well in the Walks per 9 and had improved in the K per 9, but had no idea they were doing that well in the K per 9 category or K per Walk. Thank you for sharing!

Yeah considering we only had 2 top 100 pitchers last year (Brusdar Graterol, Jordan Balazovic) I guess we just have some great pitching depth in the minors
