Game Thread: Twins @ Tigers, 8/31 @ 5:10 CT

As the Twins approach the MLB record for home runs I wonder how many people are aware that 10 -- count them TEN -- MLB teams this year are on pace to break the record set last year by the Yankees?

Thanks Manfred for making me not care about baseball anymore.

Dick and Bert showing a remarkable lack of knowledge on the 1997 Mariners. Bert thinks it was the team that won 116 games and Dick declares that was the season that saved baseball in Seattle.

No, that was 2001 and Ichiro.

Looks like another 4 inning game for the BP.

I'll start (because i'm lazy and the first is easiest)

1. The Twins!
2. ...?

We are #1 for sure ... the rest of the list:

2. Yankees (300)
3. Dodgers
4. Astros
5. Red Sox
6. Athletics
7. Braves
8. Cubs
9. Mariners
10. Brewers (252)

There has been more home runs hit through August than complete season home runs in any season except 2017,

Without looking, I think the mid-90s Mariners were very good too, They went to an ALCS. A-Rod debuted (at age 19 iirc). All that happened before 1997 though, if I recall.

No, that was 2001 and Ichiro.

Not to mention it was 1995 that saved the franchise.

My name's not Manfred.

Manfred Mann?

Then I got it. (I'm quick)

(though confused about the 252... Isn't the record 266 or something?

[notoriousgod71]

Also there are four individual players with more home runs than total complete games this season.

Rosario is another guy looks like he could use a week off to rest up and heal assorted bruises.

[notoriousgod71]

Great hustle, Adrianza.

[mrtwinsfan]

Ehire should get 2 errors on that,

Thanks!

RETRACTION! RETRACTION!

I mistakenly thought the record was 247, it's actually 267, therefore ONLY FOUR TEAMS are on pace to set the record this year.

[sftwinsfan]

With the problem with errors on this team I would have pulled Adrianza off the field for that.  Not the error, but the complete lack of effort trying to field the ball and then going after the ball.

Babe Rodriguez strikes again.

Good grief.

All right, Twins will have to put their big britches on tonight and get these runs back.

[mrtwinsfan]

Rodriguez  = twin killer,,  Perez any decent hitter justs waits him out knowing  A WAIST HIGH cutter is coming,  Wheres his change up ?

[VATwinsFan]

TB up 3-2

Perez is who we thought he was.

With the September guys coming up I think it's time to go bullpen game the next time Perez's turn comes up.  Or at least give him absolutely no leash and have people warmed up the first sign of trouble.  Scary for next season-rotation as of now probably consists of Jose Berrios and that's it. Which sounds better than Jose Berrios and Martin Perez.

[mrtwinsfan]

Embarrising !!!!  good night, ill check in at 10:00 pm

[VATwinsFan]

6 hits in a row.

Anybody up in the BP yet?

[Pius Jefferson]

You can't limit this offense than how the hell can you beat Houston or New York in the LDS?

[mrtwinsfan]

Hopefully Detroits not still at bat

[sftwinsfan]

How is Perez still in this game? Baldelli does know these games are important doesn't he?

[PDX Twin]

Perez is making Gibson look good.

[LVTwinsfan]

Perez: I would be as good as Gibson if I could get 12 runs of support
