actually looking forward to this game... Looks like battle of the backups, all fighting for their spot on the bench. hoping to see Parmelee really bring it, I was really high on that guy last year. Also looking forward to see if Alexi and Revere can keep their solid spring going.

Game looks to be on MLB network today

Backups? Twins have at least 5 guys in the line-up who will get regular at bats, plus one their top arms on the mound

your right.... would floaters be more appropriate?

I can't disagree with that. Revere, Carroll, doumit, Valencia, and Casilla are all regulars, but they are all floaters. If baker is healthy he will be good. He will be injured though

I see that Gardy is keeping up his pattern of not playing Mauer in a day game after a night game....

(Just kidding, folks!)

Twins up 1-0 after the 1st. Doumit scored Revere from 3rd on a GO and Baker pitched a nice and easy 1-2-3 inning

Thanks for the update, thrylos. How did Revere reach?

Nice hit through the middle on a 91 mph Fastball, then a hit by Carroll and a double steal on a botched pick off play

Posted

Baker pitches a hit-less second inning. One walk. Very effective change up. His fast ball still peaked at 88 but started at 84-85. Still early in the Spring

Nice single by Casilla through the middle, stolen base on next pitch, sac bunt by Revere to get him to 3rd with one out.

Good to hear Revere had a successful bunt. That's going to be key for him this season.

Completely agree. Forcing infielders to play in on him should allow him to slap some more ground balls through the infield. Every last little bit of OBP is important for Ben.

If Revere is forced to play against the Yankees when CC Sabathia is pitching, he should literally be bunting every at-bat (well, maybe not literally). With a huge pitcher on the mound, A-Rod at third and Teixeira at first, the opportunities are endless.

Maloney in. Strikeout, GO. Single that exposes Carroll's range, another hit to left, Revere bobbles the ball and runners in the corners, 2 outs

Posted

Pearce grounds out to short, Benson strikes out, Casilla grounds out to short. Benson looked really overmatched at the plate

Maloney in for a second inning, gets the first batter to ground out to short and the next 2 to fly out. Very impressed. 86-89 FB, cutter, sinker, and changing speeds and locations
