Minnesota's Michael Busch

Michael Busch is from Inver Grove Heights and went to high school at Simley. He went to North Carolina to play baseball and after a very strong sophomore season last year, he is in line to be a 1st round draft pick this year.

Yeah Fangraphs likes him as I believe they currently have him in the top half of the first round.  Hit tool is supposed to be excellent, but even though he might be able to play outfield seems likely he is more of a first baseman.  Not much position flexibility so even though he has a plus bat he could fall.  Also a bit small for a first baseman but supposedly the power is there.  The Twins could have some tough decisions at pick 13.

That's the High School I went to.  His older brother is a heck of a beer league softball player.

We played Busch in our sections his senior year. Another assistant coach on our team had coached him for several years prior to joining our staff. Raved about his attitude.

 

Busch had fractured an arm or leg or something during the hockey season and was playing at like 70% capacity. He still looked smooth at shortstop. He lead off and walked twice and scored both. I remember thinking his baseball IQ on the bases was outstanding.

 

Saw him playing for the Rox after his freshman year at UNC and he hit a bomb. He has filled out a bunch.
