tbhysgb Provisional Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 LoMo made a nice play on that one, Don't know how he could get the error when Lynn fumbled his whole way through the play.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Morrison will get the E, but that's totally on Lynn.No way. Could Lynn have caught it? Sure, but... Edit: Grabbed the exact frame with the ball hitting the glove.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 That E had better be changed to Lynn. LoMo busted his you-know-what just to get to that oneIt was a terrible flip. Lynn had his arm extended and it tipped off the glove. But Lynn failed to hustle, for sure. But that doesn't impact Morrison's awful flip move.

Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Uh...it was high, but it hit him right in the glove.Dude... I grabbed the exact frame where it happened. His arm was fully extended, he was leaning toward the throw, and the ball was a snowcone at best.

If he drops the flip and everybody moves up a base, ok whatever. Letting that run score deserves the error.

Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Mookie Betts is a real pain in the ass.
ashbury Verified Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Dude... I grabbed the exact frame where it happened. His arm was fully extended, he was leaning toward the throw, and the ball was a snowcone at best.I don't think one frame will tell the story on this one. That ball looks catchable to me, in motion. Lynn closed the glove too soon or something. A video of the play is already up: https://mediadownloads.mlb.com/mlbam/mp4/2018/06/21/2177992083/1529541860924/asset_1800K.mp4 But a poor flip. So I agree with giving the error to the one who put the other player in a position of having to bail him out.

You can't get an out without it. If he's gotta pull up to make sure he actually gets the ball that's what you have to do. If he'd have hustled and got there quicker that would probably have been an out as LoMo wouldn't have had to rush his throw and hit a moving target underhanded
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Has Lynn thrown a single pitch that wasn't some form of a fastball? Serious question.

Let's not forget that Lynn is on the move while all that's happening. And he's not the most... agile... dude on the planet. If Morrison gets that ball even three inches closer to Lynn, that's almost surely an out. The guy who has to make a way above average catch during a transfer doesn't get the error. The guy who put him in the position to fail that catch gets the error. If Mauer is on his stomach and a ball ricochets off his glove after a throw from Dozier, who gets the error? It's pretty obviously Dozier.

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 No There it was! A breaking ball. Low and a foot outside, but a breaking ball.

Serious question. The only thing he seems to throw besides straight fastballs are tantrums when the ump "squeezes" him, or when he misses Garver's target by a foot and he doesn't frame it the right way.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 or when he misses Garver's target by a foot and he doesn't frame it at all and stabs at the ball like a toddler bobbing for apples.Fixed that for you.

I just took issue with the snowcone-at-best characterization. Lynn mistimed his snag of the throw by just enough to ruin his otherwise workmanlike effort beating the runner to the bag.

TFRazor Verified Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Prepare the bullpen. 3 innings in and Lynn's already at a very Odorizzi-esque 50+ pitches
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Well, many fans have been calling for longer outings by our starters. Lynn's doing his part tonight. Right at an hour for 2.5 innings.

He got on his way with reasonable urgency, it just didn't work out any faster than that. And he did beat the batter to the bag, so it should have been enough.

I'm interested to see what new shiny Kyle Gibson will do.

He can use his considerable momentum to fall and begin rolling toward first after every pitch.

Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 The Twins are really making Price work. He's now over 12 pitches per inning.
