Diaz, Munoz selected in DWL draft

Lewin Diaz and Gorge Munoz were drafted in the annual Dominican Winter League draft on Thursday.

 

Diaz was the 3rd round pick of the Estrellas Orientales. Munoz was the 20th round pick of Toros del Este. 

 

To be eligible to be drafted, a player must have played in at least Low A and been on a roster in August. There are six teams in the league and 20 rounds. 

 

Fernando Tatis, Jr. and Vlad Guerrero, Jr. were first round picks. Miguel Sano, I believe, was the #1 pick in the draft in probably 2013.

I had to look up Munoz's first name because it looked like typo. Apparently I've been remiss as a prospect watcher. Here's hoping he becomes a household name and everyone comes to know how to spell it.
