left hamstring, day to day apparently. Looked to happen when he was sliding into home.

He played the next inning and had his at-bat and then he was benched. He looked fine when he hit.

Wonderful.  They're going to have to do something.  You can't have two gimpy infielders - him and Plouffe - on a team that only carries 3 bench players. Time for one to go on the DL or lose a pitcher and bring up Rosario or Polanco.

I don't think Escobar will hit the DL... is Plouffe's last injury still nagging him? Or is this a new one?

You might wonder why teams don't have more guys come out throwing in the low 70's and 60's. That's because it would take one batting practice for hitters to start slamming every pitch over the fence. Look how hard it is for these guys to wait for those slow balls. I'm just glad Nunez didn't pull a back muscle.

The only thing that ever worries me about laughers is at garbage time, when guys lose focus and have lousy ABs and bad habits creep in.

But that's tomorrow's worry. Today, let's all smoke a beeeg seeegarrr.

Speaking of squaring up that lead hip: Cole Hammels, y'all. There's a guy that squares up his hip just about perfectly. Downward Plane Airlines. Always hitting the ground, sometimes a bit too soon.

Even Kevin Jepsen can't blow a 12-run lead... I think.

Good thing he didn't ... it's comments like that that could jinx a team!

Perhaps the best collective effort from the future stars I can remember.

Maybe we can be optimistic going forward, or am I getting ahead of myself here?

Another good topic: How exactly do you jinx the worst team in baseball? It's not like I can cite how healthy they've been all year, or how their pitchers are doing unexpectedly well, or anybody's hitting out of their mind...

Like most people here, I'd just love it if the Twins had a long streak of good luck. Since the season is already toast, any jinxes would have to be considered entirely redundant. All the hexes and voodoo that fans of other teams cast upon the Twins have apparently worked much better than our own chicken bones and magic wands from Toys Are Us. Maybe squirt guns and water balloons will work better... ;-)
