Kepler apologizes to Duffey, "I'm sorry to make you wait so long to go back out there."

Duffey: "That's alright, Max. I'll deal with it."

Pitcher did the smart thing: Walked Sano to let in just one run.

I don't think he walked him on purpose. He had to pitch to him and hoped for a playable out.

Sano has a cannon. Has anyone mentioned that?

I think Bremmer said Sano fires it at about 95 mph. Jack Morris did not correct him, so maybe he really is throwing it harder than Duffey's fastball. Sano has always been said to have a major gun. Maybe that's why the Twins thought he could be another Michael Cuddyer in RF. That experiment did not go well.

This does suggest an interesting topic: If Duffey keeps the ball in the park by not flying open, isn't the same thing true for a guy like Michael Tonkin? The bomb he just allowed came from a pipelined fastball that was flat as a pancake. Tonkin does sling the ball with a big old arm whip, which generates lots of velocity, but he too needs to keep the lead hip closed to avoid a disastrous flat trajectory.

I see now that he's doing just that - keeping the lead hip closed a bit longer. Much better, tho a bit late. Now the ball is going downhill.

Just joined in  What happened to Escobar?

left hamstring, day to day apparently. Looked to happen when he was sliding into home.

Wonderful.  They're going to have to do something.  You can't have two gimpy infielders - him and Plouffe - on a team that only carries 3 bench players. Time for one to go on the DL or lose a pitcher and bring up Rosario or Polanco.

agreed, would love to see Polanco again.........

Duffey is now standing taller on the mound. Problem solved. He looks great when he stands upright. Better snap, harder to read, better downward slant. Now we might see him put up a bunch of 0's.

Good thing the Twins coaches follow this thread!

Reminds me of Bert's favorite airline, Downward Plane.
