Hicks showed promise in 2012, 2013, and the beginning of 2015. But the power has completely fallen off a cliff. He needs to get much better at the plate for the remainder of the year, or else he is likely done in the organization.

OPS is up to .731. He has to get that above .800 again for any serious consideration.

.693 OPS. Likely about down as a player in the system, though we should see if he hits solidly the rest of the season.

674 plate appearances in AA with a .694 OPS as a first baseman. And he will be 27 next April. Probably the end for Hicks. It's a bad name in this organization.

2016 Summary

 

477 AA plate appearances, .264/.348/.371 (.719), 27 doubles, six homers, 52 walks, 109 strikeouts, two steals in two attempts.

 

Hicks improved slightly over his 2015 season, but the main issue is that he plays first base and does not slug very much. 

 

2017 Outlook

 

Hicks would probably be best served by leaving the organization and trying to catch on in AAA with some team that might have more of an opening at first base. Otherwise, I imagine he could be sent back and forth between AA and AAA for the Twins.
