If you go back to last year the Twins have been shut out three times in a row. That happened in season once when they were shut out in three consecutive games in September of 1978.

 

The pitchers did a little better though. Goltz, Serum and Erickson each threw a complete game and gave up 7 runs (5 earned) over the three shut out losses.

The expansion Mariners went 21 innings in 1977. They won that third game 7-6 scoring 3 in the fourth.

I just realized that the Twins have 11 hits for the year...while giving up 18 runs.

The 1943 Cardinals didn't score a run in their first 23 innings. That may be the record.

 

The cardinals won 105 games that year.
