Span had surgery on a "right core muscle injury" and will miss 4-6 weeks. Hopefully, he recovery goes well. He's a FA at the end of the season and a good season will lead to a pretty nice payday for him.
Sarah Verified Member Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Darn- best wishes to him as he recovers.
ashbury Verified Member Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 I'm shaky on what a sports hernia exactly is and now I'm thrown the phrase "right core muscle injury" which the article makes sound pretty similar. Strained something in the belly, past the ability of the body to recover on its own, is all I can muster as an explanation. Bad timing, it being his contract year, but hopefully it doesn't wind up as a lost season for him. Never heard anything to suggest he's not a great guy who deserves good luck.
