Twins Winter Caravan

The Twins Winter Caravan got started this week with two groups traveling around the upper midwest. Kyle Gibson, Caleb Thielbar, Dan Gladden are heading north and west. Glen Perkins, Paul Molitor and Gene Glynn and traveling with Kris Atteberry. 

 

This week and next, the caravan will be making stops around the region. If anyone is able to attend any of the events, share pictures and stories of them here.

Cody Christie tweeted some pictures and stories from the Twins Caravan stop tonight in Fargo.

Mike McFeely from KFGO in Fargo chatted with the four Twins representatives at the Caravan in Fargo last night: Kyle Gibson, Caleb Thielbar, Dan Gladden and Dave St. Peter.

Jeff Johnson, the terrific writer from The Gazette in Cedar Rapids wrote about the Twins Caravan. Specifically he wrote about how impressive it is that Glen Perkins would make such a trip:

 

 

 

How many major league all-stars would take the time in the dead of winter to hop on a charter bus and tour Upper Midwest garden spots like Cedar Rapids and Waterloo?

It is unusual to see a veteran who is willing to do 4 days on a bus (although they look like very nice buses from a photo of Thielbar and Gibson).  Somehow I think there;is a little card playing between stops.  Perk just seems pretty good natured when not in competitor mode,  And very appreciative of what baseball has done for him.

 

Apparently the "Midwestern boys"  (Perk, Gibson, Thielbar) get the first week.   

 

The warm weather guys (Dozier, Plouffe, Hughes, Schafer) only have to show up that 2d week closer to Twins Fest) (makes logistical sense).  Not sure how Duensing snuck into that 2nd week.

 

Anyway, it is nice to see another example of Perkins' veteran leadership.
