According to 1500ESPN's Darren Wolfson, the Minnesota Twins are not expected to bring back bench coach Terry Steinbach as a part of Paul Molitor's coaching staff:

Steinbach was added to the coaching staff after the 2012 season and reportedly worked with catchers. He was thought of as a candidate for the Minnesota Twins manager opening and connected to the Diamondbacks during their search for a new manager as well.

I like the guy, but he simply could not help Josmil Pinto which speaks volumns.

Why does it speak volumes about him? Pinto had fewer than 400 innings behind the plate at the major league level and spent most of his time in Rochester so it was not as if he was working with Steinbach everyday.

I agree.  Pinto seemed to get few catching opportunities at the MLB level at the behest of the pitchers and manager who may not have been looking at the big picture; that being developing a young catcher may hurt your productivity now, but hopefully willl pay off in the long run.

They may have been right, but I don't think it had anything to do with Steinbach, Pinto was never given the chance to prove his adaquacy.

I thought he'd be a good managerial candidate, and he never got an interview (that we know of). I assumed he would be back with the Twins in some capacity, presumably as bench coach, but now that seems out. I figured with his Gopher connection to Molitor he'd be a shoe-in. I guess not.

Pinto's been in the minor league system trying to learn how to play catcher for almost 10 years.  Have a sneaking suspicion it ain't gonna happen.

Well,  Disagree my friend.  Stieny was assigned by numerous reports to help Pinto with pitchers and framing pitches.  That is all I meant to say.  p.s.  And Pinto has not improved in the area either.  p.s.s.  Since being hired in 2012, he had 2013 plus two spring train ings and part of 2014
