My top 25 prospects

I don't see elite out of Rosario, Polanco, Vargas, May and probably not Thorpe.  thorpe might have a little more upside but that's why he's in that range since his downside is still pretty low.  There are always some decent prospects that outperform what everyone expected of them though.

The key to winning for an average payroll team (10-15 highest) nowadays is to have a large core of cost controlled players while adding a couple key FA's.  The Twins are currently putting that young core together with Dozier, Arcia, Gibson, Santana and now Vargas getting playing time.  They are just a drop in the bucket compared to what we will see in the next couple of seasons.  A few will bust but there is a lot of talent coming up.

I should clarify that I think the potential for that crowd to be elite is there. The likeliness of that is reflected a bit in the rank. However, even if they are just above average, that makes the Twins pretty good going forward.

No question on the cost controlled players, and I'd add that right now they appear to have a surplus of them coming up through the system, which can be good as the team gets firmly established.

I think we are pretty close.  Here is my mid-season list (from 2 months ago, right after the draft.)  I would probably push Berrios higher than I had then.  Other than the philosophical who is the best prospect, I think that Vargas & Polanco should be a tad higher in your list.  Gilmartin is a bit too high, I think (same with Darnell - and they are similar.)  Not sure that they will amount to much in the majors.
