JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 A couple of quick tweets from Berardino: Mike Berardino @MikeBerardino 19m Also, Eddie Rosario has yet to report to #mntwins extended spring training as he continues to tend to "personal issues." Mike Berardino @MikeBerardino 22m Byron Buxton has yet to resume swinging the bat, per #mntwins farm director Brad Steil. "Nothing new" on that sprained left wrist.
Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Both are disappointing. I hope both come to resolution soon.

old nurse Verified Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Couldn't Berardino have at least thrown us a bone on Sano's rehab progress? 2-3 months post op he can start lightly throwing a ball. About the only news you would have is range of motion reports and the no news is good news variety.
old nurse Verified Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 IIRC Rosario was said to have tested positive for benzoylecgonine. Did anyone ever ask if Rosario ever drank the Coca Tea? That, or his issue could be diabetes.
Zephrin Verified Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 This has probably already been covered somewhere, but has Rosario's suspension started? Is there some rule that he has to report before his 50 games start accruing? I hope not...
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted April 5, 2014 Author Posted April 5, 2014 I was confused about that, too, Zephrin. I know he could have partaken in regular Spring Training even though he was supposed to start his suspension when the season started. But would he be allowed to participate in extended Spring Training? Wouldn't the Twins have had to assign him to a minor league team and then have him be suspended for their first 50 games (or be suspended from the first 50 games of the Rock Cats since that was his last team)?? And yet it seemed curious that Berardino would phrase it the way he did.
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Does anyone know anything of substance regarding where Rosario is?
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 This has probably already been covered somewhere, but has Rosario's suspension started? Is there some rule that he has to report before his 50 games start accruing? I hope not... It started with Opening Day (Thursday).
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Does anyone know anything of substance regarding where Rosario is? It's all speculation.
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 It's all speculation. Exactly. We know so little about these players' lives (especially those from Latin America) that it could be just about anything.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Am I just a 'nervous nellie' for being concerned about Buxton's injury?I can't find the article, but I could have sworn it was initially reported that he would miss about a week. It's now been almost a month, and he's still not even swinging a bat! And now I'm hearing his return could be as late as May? I hope this is still just a minor injury and the team is just being super cautious with their top prospect, but with the Sano injury I can't help but be nervous that it might be something more serious. If both our top prospects end up losing huge chunks of development time, that is going to be a tough pill to swallow.
cmathewson Provisional Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Berardino is reporting that Rob Antony said Buxton should resume baseball activities on Wednesday.

jokin Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 http://refugeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/299-Fry-Futu-0.jpg I wasn't going to touch that one with a 10 foot pole. I figured either you or Snepp were on it with your own particular brands of Google-Fu. Well played.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Author Posted April 10, 2014 Mike Berardino @MikeBerardino 31m Also heard from Mike Radcliff, #MNTwins VP Player Personnel: Buxton "will play when he heals. Potentially could be May." Out since 3/16. TC is looking further and further away for Mr. Buxton.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Author Posted April 10, 2014 But there is also this: Mike Berardino @MikeBerardino 43m Per #MNTwins farm director Brad Steil, @OfficialBuck103 has resumed taking fly balls as he works back from sprained left wrist. So maybe just an abundance of caution about getting him into actual games.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 May.....sigh. Some good news on the Twins front would be a nice change this spring.
KirbyHawk75 Verified Member Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Hopefully by May we will forget about Buxton's injury. This organization needs some good news though. Sano is out for the year, Buxton is having injury issues, Rosario is having issues. The free agent starting pitchers are as bad as anyone could imagine they could have been. Glen Perkins has a 10.80 ERA. Our bullpen has been overused already.

Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Rosario has been in camp the last couple of days.
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Rosario has been in camp the last couple of days. Surreptitiously moving about in clever disguise, no doubt? Sounds like you got yourself a scoop, Halsey.....
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 It's all speculation. Speculation is nasty stuff. I tried it in College but didn't inhale and still felt light headed, still do actually.

Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 As Halsey Hall indicated, Rosario has been on camp since last week and playing in EST games. Based on what LEN3 wrote today, he will report in New Britain around 5/25 and play 2B and OF. That about closes the loop.

Does no one find this odd that the sports media has not reported on this development? Is there some kind of "hands off" handshake agreement to leave the kid alone for now?

My buddy talked to him, says he's skinny as a rail, and hadn't thrown a ball since before spring training, where ever he played this winter.

Only one quote from the Twins regarding Rosario's return....per the article cited above: "'His weight has never fluctuated,' Twins assistant general manager Rob Antony said." That's all that he'd give you, Mike Berardino? Really?
