It looks like you're almost completely just looking at age when writing this. I think there are a few guys worthy of promotions, including:

Mitch Garver, Todd Van Steensel, Matt Tomshaw, Danny Ortiz, Reynaldo Rodriguez, Lester Oliveros, and maybe Sean Gilmartin. I think Trevor May is close, and I believe in AJ Achter (though I don't think I'd call him up quite yet).

I'm curious your thoughts on why some of these guys should be promoted, like Ivory Thomas or Hudson Boyd or a few others.

Also, Brooks Raley was DFAd a month ago. JD Williams and Levi Michael are hurt.

Jorge Polanco has slowed down. Adam Walker, I believe, still has a sub-.300 OBP, although he was improved in May.

I do assume that there will be a few promotions following the MWL and FSL All-Star games, but it's definitely not like some years where there are a lot of obvious promotions coming up.

I agree on there not being obvious choices this year. The only sure fire ones to me should be Ortiz; Tomshaw; Rodriguez and Oliveros. I also think that Murphy is worth keeping since he is argueably the next best defender in the outfield (range and arm) to Buxton.

Colabello and Parmelee mess it up for Vargas, because he is another payer who has possibly earned a promotion.

I certainly think Vargas should at least move up to Rochester. I don't see a position for Robinson on the Twins. Despite yesterday's tough game, Plouffe is better at all phases and is nearly the same age. I think Walker would benefit from more time in Ft. Myers, although I think he has a chance to be a decent player.

I was looking at statistics, not age, Seth. I should have noted Williams and Michael's injuries, but it still applies.

Boyd has now thrown 130 innings for Cedar Rapids and is finding a niche as a reliever. Pushing him as a reliever one level soon doesn't seem to irrational.

Ivory Thomas is really strange. His walk rate is astounding. I realize he hasn't hit anything, but his isolated discipline is .283! Anyway, I would be curious to see if that continues after a move. I wouldn't be all that serious about promoting him given the lack of hitting. Really strange statistics there.

Romero's addition doesn't come at Plouffe's expense, but would be to replace Kubel on the roster.

Anyway, something's got to give since the draft is coming and also some ESTers are likely not going to stick around in E-Town for long before moving up.

Also, 15 of these players were just listed in the first 3 parts of your minor league top players for May!

I'd be good with Romero replacing Kubel. I'm not certain he's the right guy, but someone should replace Kubel at this point.

I do agree with you on the draft coming and that there are often moves. There will be several, I'm sure... but I don't know how much of that will be age-based. They're going to do what's best for the prospects.

I also would like to see a few of these players up a level; Garver up a level to see if he can keep hitting, Stuart has starting hitting recently , so may not be a need to move Garver up except for him to see better pitching...........I know both Garver and Stuart were up for college catcher of the year last year, does anyone know what separates them as prospects??..............................I'd love to see Berrios at AA, but don't think it will happen, or even should, he has far exceeded my expectations, and I , for one am happy about that :)............................And I wouldn't mind any of the promotions you have from AA to AAA and AAA to majors, just know they all wont happen, but a few would be nice...........by the way anyone reading this, I LOVE TWINS DAILY!!!!! LOL

I like the moves. In general I think he Twins should nudge their players along bit more aggressively than they do. They hold on to hope with guys for too long and fall in love with mediocre veterans. I have seen enough of some of the guys on the active roster to know they are what they are. I would rather see some of the guys you are talkin about on the big club. Maybe even 1 or 2 of the AA guys like Vargas. Maybe they deal a few guys and some of these move up. It would be a it more interesting to watch anyway.

Stuart was the best defensive C in the draft and should move quickly to be a back up if we go off of his defense. But his bat isn't that great. I think it's a little better than its been but not much. I don't know about the other C Garver other than he came out of know where and has been hitting.

Also for Promotions. I don't pretend to know all promotions needed but I am not in a hurry to promote Barrios to quickly. He just turned 20 and just became a dad. He has a lot going on without the added pressure. Though I would consider sending him up for a few starts at the end of the season unless fort myers is going to the play offs.

I would like to find out if Tomshaw is this years Baxendale or if he can cut it at AA.

AA and AAA are not that different in terms of promotion so I don't worry about that one too much. There are several pitchers on both staffs mostly AAA that deserve a promotion to the majors. So I am hoping we either go on a big tear with Corriea pitching and winning a bunch of games or we trade him and bring someone up who can get acclimated to pitching in Minnesota. My fear is Gibson is teetering on the line of being a 5th / AAAA starter and 3rd starter. I hope he takes the full step forward and becomes the number 3 we all hope he can be. Otherwise we do have other pitchers about ready to take his place.

No need for most of these promotions. Trevor May will get a shot soon but not at the expense of cutting Kevin C. Depth at SP is not a bad thing. KC is nothing great, but even 4s and 5s have value. Jared Burton has a good enough track record that you cant just cut him either. Kubel, sure. Gilmartin, maybe. You have some other good moves and i think vargas might get moved or be a september callup. I think another possible move might be a trade of willingham. Dude is mashing and is finally healthy. If we fall out of contention he might be first guy gone.

My shorter list

From Cedar Rapids to Fort Myers:

Mitch Garver (C, 1B) - dude can hit. They can find room for him and Turner.

Todd Van Steensel (RHR)

From Fort Myers to New Britain:

Levi Michael (2B/SS) after he comes off the DL. He's spent plenty of time in Ft Myers.

Jose Berrios (RHS) - when May goes up

From New Britain to Rochester:

Danny Ortiz (OF)

Kennys Vargas (1B) - though I'm not sure if they have room unless Colabello plays OF

Sean Gilmartin (LHS) - when May goes up

Lester Oliveros (RHR)

From Rochester to the Twins:

Trevor May (RHS) - when a spot opens up

Michael Tonkin (RHR) - when a spot opens up in the bullpen

Kris Johnson - when a spot opens up in the bullpen (Duensing or Thielbar)

That's a good shorter list. Clearly not a lot is going to be done, but some things will need to be done. One thing I was doing was trying to then fill the lower level with guys after losing players due to promotion.
