2012 Draft Power Rankings

Twins Video

Six weeks have passed since the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft and I thought it would be interesting to see which new Twins players have jumped out to a quick start to begin their professional career. Obviously the players that were drafted in the earlier rounds still have the higher upside, and therefore would be listed higher on organizational prospect lists, but this ranking is strictly based on the player's production in the Twins minor league system. Here is the 1st edition of the Twins 2012 Draft Power Rankings with 20 total players accumulating stats:

1) RHP D.J. Baxendale- 0.00 ERA, 0.30 WHIP, 6.2 IP, 16 K, 1 BB

2) RHP Jose Berrios- 1.29 ERA, 0.57 WHIP 7.0 IP, 12 K, 2 BB

This is certainly an interesting look at the 2012 draft picks. For future versions, maybe add their age and team they're playing for. I know that doesn't affect your rankings, but it would just be interesting added information. Also, Melotakis and Jones were already promoted to Beloit, so that would be fun to note.

I really like this idea as a way to compare darftees. Everyone's prospect lists usually end up pretty similar, so it's nice to see the names by production as well.

Please keep this going.

Looks like most of the pitchers that the Twins picked have done well so far. Here's to them keeping it up. Hopefully, the hitters that they picked and signed will start to produce a little better.

Very good job. Adding age, current team, and what pick (or round) would be even better.
