  1. What was the response when Gibson exited game one? Bronx cheer?
  2. 11 LOB in 6 innings. Anyone know what the record is? Edit: Apparently it is 20 by the 1956 Yankees. So, there's a chance...
  3. It's generally considered SOP in a double header to have the better pitcher pitch game one.
  4. I sincerely hope Kyle Gibson is watching Slegers and is thoroughly embarrassed that a guy making his MLB debut outpitched a 4 year veteran.
  5. Just to make clear, nothing in the rules say that the guy called up to be the 26th man MUST be the guy sent down. There is no reason why Kyle Gibson, for example, couldn't be sent down instead.
  6. Aaron Slegers > Kyle Gibson Not that that is saying much.
  7. Wow. Two blown calls from New York in one game.
  8. New York needs to **** or get off the pot.
  9. Is that a season number for Boshers? Because I don't happen to believe a two run game with two on in the 7th is low leverage.
  10. Fine. Tom Kelly, and about 1000 other guys that have figured out that a guy that can't get RHB out shouldn't be facing them in leverage situations. The list of guys that have figured this out is a lot longer than the list of those who have not. PS: Do not tell me what to do.
  11. So, 18 batters for the Twins. 8 outs. 2 runs. That's statistically extremely difficult to do.
  12. The flaw in that logic is that Boshers shouldn't be facing a RHB in a close game anyway. Someone else should be preparing to face Jackson. Either that inning or in the next. So, that pitcher you have warming eventually will be brought in. Managers that are good managing bullpens figure this stuff out without much trouble.
  13. That's alright. The players apparently chose not to show up for game one.
  14. Molitor wasn't trying to steal an extra out. He brought in Boshers to get one out. Specifically, one lefty. The bottom line is that Molitor either should have let Busenitz finish the inning if he felt the game was already unwinnable or he should not have allowed Boshers to face Jackson if he felt the game was winnable. Either way, it was a bad decision.
  15. Isn't it Molitor's job to make sure someone is ready if that scenario plays out?
  16. At least we'll find out if he can help at the MLB level.
  17. Adam Dunn's K rate actually went up through his career. Although, it was only above 31% in 2 of his 14 seasons. So, clearly one can last with that kind of hitter profile.
  18. Perkins wasn't that bad. I mean, he faced 6 batters. He got one of them out.
  19. I'm not convinced that's been an objective of the Twins over the last ten years.
