  1. There's very little downside to putting him on the WC roster. Unless the Twins for some reason plan on having more than 10 pitchers, he would take Goodrum's spot. All the other active position players will be on the roster. With 10 pitchers, the choice for the 15th position player is Goodrum or Sano.
  2. The Twins were pretty healthy in 1991. Gladden missed a couple weeks. Junior Ortiz missed a couple weeks. That was really it position wise. Erickson broke down (more than likely a result of him overthrowing) and was forced to miss the all star game and of course, was never really anywhere close to as good as he was in the first half of 1991. But that was literally it. I don't think anyone else missed more than a couple days here and there because of injury.
  3. He already has thrown 20 pitches. I can't imagine they want him to throw much more than 30.
  4. Kyle doing his best to blow this lead. No way he gets through 5. He'll be lucky to get out of this inning.
  5. I think I would have had Sano start the game as the DH to get an at bat against Boyd. Last weekend pretty much established that the Tigers do not have major leaguers in their bullpen. I'd rather see him swing against the best they have to offer. Only want to give him one at bat? Fine. Pinch hit for him right away. Not that complicated. Thinking outside the box.
  6. They would not have to put Sano on the DL to not include him on WC roster.
  7. Looks like Bad Kyle has returned.
  8. It might look a little wierd, but I would DH him and bat him leadoff all 3 days. Get him as many at bats as possible. Probably pinch run for him if he gets on late in a game.
  9. You mean other than him not facing live pitching since mid August?
  10. I think the Twins would use Gee before Berrios. As I said, he's been extremely effective the first time he faces a team.
  11. Garver has three triples. One double, no. homeruns. He is 4th on the team in triples. Over 500 PA, he would "project" to about 33 triples, which would be the most in MLB since the Titanic sank. Keep in mind, that Garver had 4 career triples as a pro prior to his MLB debut - none since 2015. Maybe this should be under fun with numbers.
  12. When I think about a team MVP, I ask myself "Who's absence would have hurt the team the most?". I think the answer to that has to be Byron Buxton.
  13. Roster can change between rounds. Also, I think it was 10 years or so ago that they allowed teams to replace an injured player during a playoff series. It should be noted, however, that the Twins only have 15 active position players. In other words, the only candidate to replace anyone is Sano. Kinda poor planning IMO. It's worth noting that if the ability to replace an injured player had been available in 1991, Gene Larkin likely would have been replaced by Pedro Munoz. Larkin was unable to run basically at all.
  14. I'm not sure I agree that Duffey is a better choice than Pressly. Edit: Actually, I'm sure I don't agree with that. Since the Break, Pressly has a 2.65 ERA and a WHIP of 1. Duffey has an ERA of 5.68 since the Break, a WHIP of 1.58. I don't think they take Gibson AND Berrios. One, more than likely. But Gee has been so effective the first time through, you can bank on 2 plus innings from him if needed. Maybe up to 3. And they probably only take 10 pitchers. If they are using more than that, they are probably losing anyway. It's unfortunate that there are only 15 position players available, assuming Sano is a no go. Matt Hague could have been a useful player to have. MLB experience. Can play 3b, 1b and is serviceable in lf. Right handed bat. Too late for that. He would likely be a more useful player than Niko Goodrum will be. Goodrum is pretty much limited to pinch running and he's behind Granite and maybe Adrianza in that role. The sad thing is that Adrianza might be the best option as a pinch hitter vs LHP.
  15. Not as long as I can recall, which goes back to late 70s. I don't recall in coming to Winona until the mid 80s, right around when Bunke closed. I went to school with his kids. My family also owned an auto repair shop. So, we knew them well. KFC is on the frontage road, kinda at a funny intersection. There used to be a shoe store across the street, but that's a sports medicine office now.
  16. Isn't that where Bunke's Auto repair used to be?
  17. Hey, Mrs yarnivek and I were there earlier. Anticipatory chicken dinner.
  18. I will say though that Colon should start Sunday. Absolutely no reason to use anyone that might be needed Tuesday in that game. At least not for more than a handful of pitches.
  19. I was praying for Divine intervention...
