  1. By “some circles”, you no doubt mean the western hemisphere and the eastern hemisphere.
  2. He’s been bad, it happens. That said, I’d wager there have been 6-7 pitches called balls that should have been strikes.
  3. Gibson has not been good tonight, but the home plate umpire was bad too.
  4. Sometimes you get scalped. Pardon my non-political correctness.
  5. Speaking of “same names”, we all know Tom Kelly as the former Twins manager. Another Tom Kelly was a songwriter, primarily in the 1980s, composing the music for (among othes) Cyndi Lauper, the Bangles and Madonna. Yet another Tom Kelly was prominent in the 1960s as the lead manager of Northrup Grumman, the contractor that built the lunar landers. #lighthearted
  6. Freeze-frame, J Geils Band. Did you know, there is another Peter Wolf in the music world besides J Geils lead singer? He was primarily a record producer in the 80s working with such artists as Starship and Heart.
  7. At least he’s consistently bad. He’s calling strikes balls and balls strikes. He is the reason why there will be roboumps someday. Some of these guys are THAT bad.
  8. Gibson is REALLY getting squeezed. Bauer is to, but it’s been more apparent with Gibson.
  9. They are the sultans of swing on pitches that are so far away they could have taken a walk of life.
  10. Marvin Hudson behind the dish. His rep is “the fans are really here to see me”. Going to be a long night I think.
  11. According to gameday, both pitches to Ramirez clipped the zone. #roboumps
  12. Did you know that part of the agreement “Wierd Al” made with Mark Knopfler to parody “Money for Nothing” was that Mark played guitar on the song? #lighthearted
  13. Most hitters do. It’s the hangers that most hitters wallop.
  14. This is kinda jumping the gun, because he hasn’t hit a MLB boxscore yet. Ryan LaMarre was called up to the Pale Hose to replace Leury Garcia.
  15. Drake is 31... Drat. Beaten to the "send" button again...
  16. I’m pretty sure some of those guys will be out of options and/or minor league free agents after this season.
  17. This, exactly. Many on this board were so excited by Buxton’s finish last year that they ignored that a good chunk of it was against September call ups. How’d that work out?
  18. Most of the guys we are talking about bringing up aren’t young. Most of the relievers that posters want looked at the MLB level are 25 or older.
  19. He gave up two hits and a walk. If Merrifield doesn’t try to steal - something Rodney had no control over - odds are he coughs up the lead.
  20. I don’t want to make this thread about Vargas, but he strikes me as a guy who, for whatever reason, hasn’t been able to put it all together. Always had great power, .190 career ISO. Occasionally showed plate discipline (2016). At times hit well vs LHP (2015,2016). At times hit well vs RHP (2014, 2017). The raw ability is there. He’s shown it, at times, at the MLB level. Just not often enough and not consistently enough. Head scratcher, to be sure.
