  1. This x10.....no way is Jay top 10 in the bullpen (and injured)
  2. I agree that big free agent pitching is not the way to go per se....but thou must obtain good pitching somewhere and help is a long way off in this draft.... I assume you are counting Berrios as #2..... I hope and think this to be correct but would like to see a full half season of consistent play first
  3. Fernando "Dear God please be the real thing after our draft" Romero?!
  4. Just to be clear.... the strategy "allowed" the Twins to obtain Leach. If they played it "straight" at #35 and #37, they could have had Enlow and Rooker anyway. They cut a deal with Enlow and/or realized that no one between the 30-70s could pay over slot...... They did this so they could take Leach as well....presumably before someone else took him before the 70s and he signed with another team for the slot money there. So.....really, it is Leach that will determine how fancy the FO was with this draft. And it will really be Wright to watch and not Greene to determine if they misjudged....We currently have 1 ultra reliable starter and the next 100s of millions of $$$ ACE that the twins sign in FA will be the first one!!!! .... all the while....the window for a potentially lethal line up may be opening up in very soon.
  5. I think there is a pretty decent chance based on these picks that the FO dynamic duo completely outsmarted themselves….the people they were ‘saving slot money for’ were gone for these picks…..this one draft day could end up having huge impact on their half-life in their current positions. (yep, I’m going there) I believe that they are talented, but I also believe that they are prone to thinking they are the smartest people in every room which leave them susceptible to exactly what played out today…… Man do I hope I’m dead wrong….
  6. Can we judge now? We finally are stocked with SS prospects in our system, so we draft…. A SS…. We have a dearth of starting pitching with probably our single 1.1 pick this decade and next and we….pass on any potential ACE…. I know the front office has forgotten more about baseball than I know, but boy, if they thought this was the ‘safe’ play for this draft….I beg to differ. Based on their choices, this will actually turn out to be a VERY high risk draft for their careers. (It may play out well, but if not…..yikes…) So far, if I had to guess, they outsmarted themselves (which is indeed a common ailment for brash and over-confidant youth……)
  7. Miguel "Gone-O" Sano.....shortened. Miguel "Gono" Sano
  8. Maybe Carlson needs to drop hints to the teams in the bottom part of the first round that he wants above-slot money so that he can fall to us where we can pay him mid-1st round money anyway I know....Not the Minnesota way, but let's make it happen!
  9. Agree with the 'blowing smoke to try to get someone else to come down on the asking price" theory and the "pick someone who does one thing the best over someone who does two things 'very very good' with what will hopefully be our last #1.1 pick for the next 20 years!
  10. We need Busenitz up for the days that Big Erv doesn't start!
  11. Nice addition to TD....Like that you keep looking for ways to make the site better!
  12. Granite!!!! I hope the front office will listen to offers for Rosario and Grossman (with that OBP, someone may be interested)…. He will be exciting to watch in the MLB and Grossman, though useful….not-so-much 
  13. Agreed….but we’ve got a looooong season left with only 1-2 slots in the rotation really a lock.
  14. Trade for even an above average return…. Realistically the real WS window cracks (if it opens) in 2 years at which point he’ll be gone anyway. I will trade a season of getting pounded in the 1st round of the playoffs by Houston for some above average prospects in return.
  15. There should be a Starting Pitcher Subway Sandwich promotion. Once we punch off 12 for this season, we should all get a free 12” sandwich. Run with this TD!
  16. My heart wants Greene but my brain wants Wright. Many people on this site rightfully focus on the need for multiple plus pitches to be a #3 or higher starter (make it through the line up more than 2 times). My biggest concern for Greene (yes, bigger than TJ surgery), is the wildcard of his secondary pitches. They take some level of ‘feel’ that is not always coachable.
  17. Busenitz with 1 walk and 15 Ks in 12 innings?!!!!!! If there are no promotions, we may have to covertly hook up the Twins dugout phone to contact the AAA bullpen instead….
  18. While I very much like TD doing this summaries. Yikes, there is nary a good prospect in sight….
  19. Thanks to TD for putting these monthly summaries together; one of the best contributions. If Wade and Granite can continue to maximize their potential….they replace Rosario and Grossman over the next 1-2 years. Together, they would make us more well-rounded defensively and offensively (as well as cheap and controllable).
  20. I think there are very few ACEs (5-10 at most). They need to consistently (>2 yrs) be able to dominate elite hitters and line ups hopefully to include high pressure playoff situations if needed.
  21. Mauer is fine for now... BUT, if Park or Palka really start to mash with reasonable control of the strike zone in AAA, he immediately becomes a liability at 1st (obviously a premium offensive position) Given our pitching staff, we are going to have to continue to score runs....lots and lots of runs...
  22. In the land of #5 starters, a #2.5 starter is an ACE. But no, will not be seen as an ACE by other clubs at the trade deadline which is what matters most. He IS a wonderful signing and a great pitcher to have.
