    Extreme? Of course it's extreme, I'm ranting 🙂. I am amazed at how many pitchers the Twins have acquired, once you remove the duct tape and bailing wire, their arm falls off before they can put in some innings. Chase Petty, the main asset ( 2021 1st round pick) we traded to obtain Sonny Gray, has a minor league record of 1-8. Ouch.

    Can we just please stop acquiring "major league" pitching?????? What ever guidelines the Twins are using in choosing who to acquire . . . STOP IT! We have to stop decimating our roster for arms that just won't give us value, Pablo Lopez the one exception. Are we surprised here? I'm not.

    I thought it was cool in 1979, Kranepool would get up to bat for the Mets, and the announcers would say "the last remaining original Met". You'd stop and think, "What?" He was 17 years old in 1962 when he got into 3 games for Casey's troops. Kranepool played for 18 seasons, all with the Mets.

    But think of Tony's personal satisfaction of being grouped with such greats as Alvis, Bailey and Kranepool.

    I always thought A-Rod at SS and Jeter at 3B would have been a better defensive alignment, but I guess The Captain wanted to stay at short. Players like Jeter at SS, Bernie Williams CF, Jorge Posada C and a number of second basemen that patrolled the middle of the diamond for the 1995-2005 Yankees sure ran up some atrocious fielding numbers some years, but they could hit.

    DeSclafini's windup and delivery remind me some of Greg Maddux. Now all he needs is some of Maddux's late movement magic.

    19 million a year for a 1-inning-at-a-time relief pitcher . . . wow. Hader is a great closer, but for 55 innings a year, 19 million?

    As we look at replacing the performance of Sonny Gray, and as well as he pitched, I find it interesting that the team only went 14-18 in his 32 games started. The Twins winning pct last year was .537, so an average Twins pitching performance should have got them 17 wins. Doesn't look that hard to replace in that light.

Versus Detroit and Mickey Lolich, In the 3rd inning, Tovar walked and was balked to 2nd and Carew walked, from there they stole their way around the bases to score 2 runs to tie the game, all with Harmon Killebrew at the plate. I guess they figured Harmon wouldn't be able to drive them in 😁. Harmon then struck out. It would be the only 2 runs they scored that day as they lost 8-2.

    Dave McCarty actually had a higher pitching WAR than he did hitting. You can look it up.

    Charlie Manuel went to play in Japan and from age 32-37 pounded Japanese pitchers to a .303/.385/.604/.988 (AVE/OBA/SLG/OPS) stat line. At age 36 he batted .325 with 48 homers and knocked in 125 for the Kintetsu Buffaloes. The Twins sure could have used some of that pop in the early 70's if Charlie could have figured out major league pitching like he did in Japan. He is also the Philles all-time winningest manager.     I think the TV revenue limbo the Twins are in make it hard to fill out the future player salary projection spreadsheets.

    If I was going to acquire a starter from Seattle, I'd try to trade for Emerson Hancock.

    Best looking prospect to come along in a long time. Here's to hoping he stays healthy and sticks to his work ethic.
