  1. Who is most likely to raise some eyebrows this spring? Anyone want to make any bold picks for surprise MLB roster adds?
  2. After these threads I'm actually more excited for Doziers year. Hard to appreciate what you have until you examine other teams "prized" possessions only to realize they are kind of lemons with more warts. He's going to have a huge first half and likely to be on the block again. Something else tells me Deleon and Stewart won't be as advertised by then. Old prospects that are 6 months older, still in minors, and not proving they can make it in the big leagues. Think our dodger offer increases significantly by the break and centered around Alvarez and Lux, with Deleon thrown in as a 3rd piece and a lottery ticket 4th guy
  3. Agreed but it's just a frustrating position to take (though I understand it). If that's really the position, and they prefer not to budge, I'd rather not have had the discussions this long for my own sanity haha
  4. The one argument I can't stand is that dodges aren't going to include because that's the player they ar high on. Well guess what, twins are very high on Dozier and rightfully so. He is the best player being discussed. Maybe we trade them Eduardo Escobar for Stewart straight up and they can try him at 2B. Just a suggestion
  5. lol if that's the case, no deal is getting done
  6. He hit 21 of his 42 home runs at home last year. Even let's say it got cut drastically down to 15 for dodger stadium, he's still 35+. But then consider this, he's also in the same division as the two most home run friendly parks in the majors. Two of the least homerun friendly parks too. All while al central is pretty average. Dodger stadium is a pitcher friendly park but it's actually above average as far as home run goes. It's probably a wash tbh
  7. With the rocket pads in az and Colorado he very well may
  8. No. Based on literally the definition of sunk cost. And they did it so they could trade for an all star like Dozier
  9. Just as silly as doing a trade preselected by dodgers of only their riskiest of prospects.
  10. No but it's where he likely ends up. Best guess. We'd be fools to only consider the ceilings and not look at the percentages. I think that's the problem. People are selectively choosing to only point at the ceilings without acknowledging the chance that he never lasts in the majors.
  11. Fangraphs has him as a 3 or 4. They give him 10 WAR for 6 years. For comparisons for twins fans, joe mays was with the twins for 6 years and had a slightly higher WAR. I think that's a fair projection. Certainly need much more than that. 10 WAR in 2 years is MUCH MUCH more valuable than 10 WAR in 6 years
  12. MLB.com rates Sheffield 6 spots ahead of Stewart. Fangraphs rates Stewart 3 spots ahead. When you get to these middling prospects, there is often a wider range of opinion and it's not surprising to see these discrepancies. Neither lights it up. I don't think it's unfair to say Sheffield is rated higher. He is by one publication and not by another. And as I stated the forum is a closed group so it's not like I can just link it. But they are very knowledgeable. Many with connections within the media.
  13. Those fans are some of the most knowledgeable and die hard fans I have met. Nothing to take away from this board but they really understand the game at a national level and prospects. It's a closed group so that helps eliminate trolls so it's meaningful discussion
  14. I was responding to the suggestion that impartial bystanders wouldn't think it's fair for the dodgers when that's just simply not true
  15. Lol yeah. It was a joke. I would give Dozier, buxton, Tyler Jay and Jorge for trout lol
  16. Actually I speculated a similar trade on another forum of rabid MLB fans (including LA fans) and they actually all thought it was fair. I suggested Deleon, Alvarez, Sheffield(rated higher than Stewart) and a lottery ticket for dozier. Most thought it was fair. One fan of a rival al central team thought the dodgers got the better end of the trade just because dozier is a known commodity
  17. He was actually an all star in 2015 with glen Perkins. We have already mentioned relevant statistics such as 40 homerun 2B at the major league level. 3 seasons all over 20 homers. Dodgers need that RH power and it doesn't come cheap
  18. No 3 prospects that all have significant risk associated with them and major yellow flags compared to a known all star type player. Get outta here with that haha. Be ready to be disappointed.
  19. Probably ends up Deleon, Alvarez, Stewart, and future considerations (international free agency money)
  20. And with the prospects changing hands over the winter, just shows the market is recognizing how much risks prospects hold and are valuing proven talent (such as dozier) very highly
  21. Mike Trout might get it done
  22. I don't know. Talent evaluators see home runs and being young for the league and you get on lists. Everyone in their right mind always knew Mike Restovich couldn't hit offspeed pitches and wouldn't succeed at the major league level, yet he was a top 20 prospect. There are a lot of these instances. They fall in love with 1 tool and don't evaluate the entire baseball player
  23. Lol that was my thought too. I was wondering if he was on my side of the argument
  24. Maybe as a third piece of Alvarez is included. I don't buy the he doesn't need a position. We got to put him somewhere. I have doubts he can play 2nd or outfield. That really just leaves DH and we have a lot of those types. In his 1 season with over 100 games in minors he has a sub .800 OPS so I'm not sure you can put him in that DH spot either. Also players that don't hit for average in minors usually struggle in majors. He is probably a .220-.230 type hitter.
