  1. A bunch of children waiving useless sticks around pretending they're magic wands?
  2. I assumed he was talking about the gross red jerseys.
  3. Hey, we had a lead for a full 1/3 of an inning. Baby steps folks.
  4. If Mauer could pull the ball I'd predict he drills Nunez with a line drive.
  5. Seems to me league-wide it is more common for a young pitcher to be called up than a hitter, but I don't have any numbers, just the sense that 20-22 year-old arms are more common, at least as a percentage. Some teams probably also prefer to get the most MLB time out of their pitchers before their inevitable decline.
  6. I think the team probably has the protocol for player development reversed. Pitchers are the causation and the batters are the reaction. Young pitchers with rough spots should be the ones promoted early, batters have to adjust and figure them out. It's the hitters that probably need more seasoning as they have to do the adjustment and cover up their weaknesses. Just trying to say that we should expect young batters to struggle, the team is more likely to get strong results from pitchers in the same situation.
  7. The Twins losses may be able to be explained away, but their lack of hitting and making contact really can't. They haven't been facing elite pitching. Pretty sub-elite in fact. If they were losing games 10-9, that would be one thing.
  8. Per Wolfson he gets a pro-rated $1.15M if he makes the MLB club. I hope that's incentive enough for him not to make the club. I'm worried he won't be riding pine allowing young players to develop if he makes the team. I think I'm mostly frustrated because there doesn't seem to be a plan for developing the young guys and building the team. Maybe they're not, but it really seems like they're just winging it at this point and they've been winging it since last year. It worked for awhile, but hasn't since about last June. Edit: well I can't copy the link for some reason, but it's probably not even worth figuring out why.
  9. I would hope not, but I don't see a place for both Murphy and Arcia on the 25 man.
  10. It seems to me, if he can't play CF, he's just getting in the way of development. His OPS last year was exactly the same as Arcia's career OPS. Why on earth would this team even consider giving up on a 25-year-old who plays the same position and at least has a sniff of potential for a guy who is classic DFA material?
  11. What did I miss? Did Arcia actually do something to cause them to make this move? He hasn't even been given a chance. Another corner bat when there already aren't enough spots for Kepler, Park and Arcia. Why not just call Quentin back? Isn't it a right-handed bench bat this team really needs?
  12. Hmmm, I'm pretty sure my wife would just jump on the insult dog-pile if it was me.
  13. Probably, though Pressly also worked multiple innings as well. There seems to be an air of changing of the guard in this thread no matter how folks feel about how this has transpired. I hope Molitor feels that air too and gives the job to May.
  14. So we're criticizing players for not having surgery immediately even when there are alternatives to try? It's easy to yell about surgery when it's not you or someone you love getting knocked out, cut open and incapacitated for months. These are living breathing human beings even if we too often think of them as disposable entertainment.
  15. Molitor seems to trust everyone in the pen, aside from Tonkin. I'm not saying he should....
  16. If a move to the pen increases his velocity and/or eliminates the need of his weakest pitch, success against RHB likely will also improve.
  17. There's an AA flight that leaves in 20 minutes and he'd be at MSP by 3 PM. https://www.google.com/flights/#search;f=ROC;t=MSP;q=rochester+ny+to+minneapolis+flights;d=2016-05-04;r=2016-05-08 If he's not on that plane, or the Delta that left an hour and 15 minutes ago, George Castanza must the the assistant to the traveling secretary for the Twins.
  18. I trust Jepsen much less than Pressly and May. I know for some reason he was the 25th man on the roster and he was at one point a Rule 5 pick, but when healthy, Pressly has been the most consistent and reliable bullpen arm since the start of last year. I don't know why he isn't getting more trust. I'd put him in the 8th/9th until the real fireballers get called up.
  19. Jepsen looks like the Jepsen of last year. The TB version that is.
  20. Hmm, what does it say about me that I just assumed Park's translator was going to be a Korean guy?
  21. My money is on Escobar batting 1st or 2nd by the home opener.
  22. I think he meant the Twins would end up like the Donner party. My money's on Sano as the last one left and with a fork in his hand.
  23. It didn't say what to do with Canadian outlets. You guys still use those weird British ones right?
