    And we've seen this game before. The midseason July prediction for TJ recover always means late august at the earliest and spring training the following season at the most likely.

    Anyone who doesn't strikeout 33% of the time and has an base percentage greater than .278. Which is pretty much every option.

    Not sure if they are able to make a playoff embarrassment meaningful, but few teams are able to make them as memorable.

    This really makes it look the Mariners intend to trade one of their current five starters. What ever combination of vets and prospects the Mariners are looking for, it's hard not to get excited being a Twins fan. Both team’s needs fit great together.

    It's in the Vikings best interest to lose so while rational math says it's 2.3%, destiny math says it's probably closer to 80%.

    Glad the Twins aren't listed as one of the teams, as it should indicate one of two things. They have more faith in Buxton's recovery than the fans do, or, they are serious about reducing strikeouts next year. It would be great if it indicates both.

    This is going to sound like a drunk prediction, but Cam Ward rather surprisingly declared for the draft. He's the Washington State QB and most thought he was going to transfer to a big program to attempt to gear up to be a top pick next year. I don't think he does this unless he has people telling him he's going to go high. It sounds crazy now, but he's probably the most athletic of the QBs, and as great as the other QBs look, he could test off the charts comparatively. If there's going to be an Anthony Richardson/Trey Lance ascension, it's probably going to be Ward. Saying all this, he's not the guy I'd want the Vikings to target, and more likely than not he ends up being a 3rd day pick, but if all goes well for him with workouts and the combine, I think it's possible that he bumps an established (old news) name down the boards.

    That’s fair. Bad word to use too. Im not embarrassed, I'm just angry. I want the prime directive to be to take the chances and do the things necessary to be the best team in the NFC. Instead the prime directive always seems to be to not be the worst team. If being the worst team helps to get to the prime directive, DO IT.

    I would happily decline the invite. I’ve not yet hit the half century mark and I’ve already had my fill of meaningless playoff embarrassments. We are talking about the difference in drafting 18th and as high as 9th and no lower than 12th. From 9th-12th they have a shot to at least trade up for a franchise altering QB if one doesn’t fall to them. At the 18th it’s just the same old song and dance.

    Yeah, I don't think there needs to be much hand-wringing about a 1st baseman a year removed from knee surgery. We see baseball players who play much more demanding positions do this regularly. Heck, NFL running backs do it all the time.

    Hoskins or none of the above. I don't see the fit for any of the others. Stroman is a complete 180 from the current strikeout/flyball makeup of the rotation. No interest. Knowing this team, they'd keep their best lineup off the field every fifth day to accommodate his pitch tendencies. Stay away from groundball starters who can't get strikeouts. Michael Taylor should serve as the warning sign against Duval. His obscene K% and poor OBP would kill an offense that is already struggling in those areas. I wouldn't put up a fuss about Brebbia, but I don't think they need a 3rd or 4th lefty in the pen. Soler, I don't know, I guess I don't trust him. His strikeout rates range from acceptable to awful, but that's kind of weird, most guys are more consistent in that area. Mostly, I tend to be leery of guys who put up big contract year stats following an abysmal season.

    That would be embarrassing. Not just the desperation, but actually making the playoffs. The 2024 Vikings making the playoffs would be worse than those sub-.500 division winners making the playoffs. This is an awful team.

    I think there will be plenty of serviceable back ups next year, particularly with what is likely to be six new rookie QBs minimum added to active rosters and not just practice squads. Guys like Gardner Minshew, Taylor Heinike, Tyrod Taylor, Jacoby Brissett, Tyler Huntley, Mason Rudolph, Ryan Tannehill, Andy Dalton, Carson Wentz and Drew Lock aren't exciting in the least, but should be available as backups and better than what the Vikings have now. Jimmy Garoppolo is still TBD, but would be a serviceable back up. And add Joe Flacco and Jake Browning if they haven't done enough (or are too old, sorry Joe) to find starting jobs. But actually, those two kind of look like the 'bridge' QB a team like the Vikings might pick at should they draft a QB.

    This was a fun series for sure! Jenkins number one is a bit unconventional. If the Twins were to trade Lewis or Lopez, would we expect to have to ADD pieces to get Jenkins?

    The Twins have definitely done well with late round picks recently. Also, Casey Legumina was an 8th rounder who's made it to the majors already. Twins used him to get Kyle Farmer. I think you're shorting the 2022 late round picks though, I think there are four, not three to add to a future list. Andrew Cossetti is the one I'm most excited about.

    Anyway, I'm not sure if not extending Jefferson was due to the Vikings dragging their feet or Jefferson not being interested, but seems to me the Vikings are screwed now. CeeDee Lamb is now asking to be the highest paid WR in the game, and he's got a fair claim after the season he's just had (and unlike Jefferson, continuing to have for a few more weeks). Surely both receivers will now repeat what happened last year with Herbert and Burrow, which saw both QBs in a staring contest seeing who would sign first. But unlike those two, where Burrow was clearly viewed as the superior QB entitling him to sign second and thus get the higher contract, I think Jefferson's injury plagued season will make it unclear as to which of the receivers should be paid more. This could drag out and perhaps it's possible they decide to take the contest all the way to free agency. Even if those two do sign extensions, I think having a bragging competition will only increase their payday.

    I know, it's not the offseason, but conversations are relevant now. Both threads can run concurrently while team makes it's last gasps this season.

    They still do that and a ton. And now the offenses have computers to help them figure out when and where the pitchers like to do this.

    Now that the Orioles are good, sending guys through waivers to stash them should be easier. They seemed like the one team that would claim someone every time then waive them again a week later. Seemed like it was done out of spite often times.

    Unless we're talking about off speed pitches, I don't see how the same pitcher throwing the same pitches but at lower velocity doesn't result in more hittable pitches. If the league is going to go back to 4 man rotations and 7 IP per start, that's going to have to be a league mandated requirement, like the new shift rules or three-batters-per-reliever rule. Any club willing to jump in a time machine to make the game more enjoyable to watch is going to be putting themselves at a tremendous disadvantage.

    I'll take your word for it that the natives don't like it, but up north the only 'Minni' burgers and 'Minni' pizza is found in the frozen food aisle and it has nothing to do with the state. Most restaurants in LA seem to love to slap the word 'Cali' all over their menus. Maybe it's all the transplants.

    Well do you want them pitching 7-8 innings while throwing 91-92 MPH or 5-6 innings while throwing 94-95 MPH? The guy throwing 91-92 is going to give up way more runs.
