  1. Ha, that's funny, because at the time I loathed the Jax pick. Waste a 3rd round pick on a guy who couldn't even strike batters out in the flippin' Mountain West Conference? Are you kidding me!?!?!?! Then the last two years he's grown on me. Until now. You ruined him for me.
  2. If the Twins can't get one of the Mariner or Marlins pitchers I like, I guess I'd take the gamble with the first two trades. But that's assuming the Twins at least know what's going on with Manoah's shoulder. If it's at all a concern, I probably don't have interest in him; chronic shoulder injuries are worse than elbow injuries for pitchers. I don't like the prospect trade, how often does a guy reach AAA with a minor league career 5.8 BB/9 and actually succeed at the big league level? Once in a thousand?
  3. No kidding. The Twins could beat a deal headlined by Pasquantino without much sweat. Maybe I just don't view a DH/1B guy with only moderate power high enough, but the Marlins should be able to do better than that.
  4. Sorry, not interested in Houser. Too much contract, too few years and he still slots in behind Ryan and Ober, not ahead of them. If they're not going to get BETTER pitching, I'd rather they just stock up St. Paul with more junkballers like Sanchez and Keuchel on MiLB deals for their 'depth'.
  5. Well, I'll be damned. The guy's been here nearly a full year and that's a tidbit I didn't realize. 333 games behind the plate in the minors and dabbled at the MLB level too. Yeah, an emergency third catcher is a pretty good bonus. It was more of a Ryan/Gardy bit, but I really disliked their fear of the infinitesimal chance that pinch hitting for your catcher might mean you have to go an inning or two with an unqualified backstop for one game.
  6. Or if you like to watch professional football. 😀
  7. I'd hold onto Kepler and Polanco until I'm sure they can't be used to offset the prospect cost to get a more established top arm. Should that prove to be impossible, I guess this would look similar to the Nelson Cruz for Joe Ryan trade. This is the Pirates though, there's next to no chance they're taking on 20M for both Kepler and Polanco. They'd pay one at most, and probably beg the Twins to pay half the salary.
  8. Agreed. Bills and Browns fans are known and take pride in being cold weather die-hards too.
  9. Yeah, the season is over but more to learn for sure. I'm no expert but there are plenty of evaluators and pundits who give well thought out and honest evaluations that I'm looking forward to reading.
  10. Oh yeah, I wasn't blaming you. Pretty much ever link I see to Twitter I assume is propaganda these days.
  11. Yeah all the rain slickers should have disqualified that photo from having relevance. I'm sure attendance sucks there right now, but without context, that pic is pretty dishonest.
  12. I don't think Farmer's 6M gets the team the kind of pitching they need. It's got to be a trade unless they go nuts and chase Yamamoto or Montgomery. No other free agents fit their needs.
  13. He'd be number 5 for me, as I'd rather have him then Penix. Still, numbers 4, 5 or even 6 this year is better than number 2 or 3 most years.
  14. Yeah, if they have to move up, they have to hold their noses and do it. But Nix seems like the kind of guy, whom if he falls, he's going to have a chip on his shoulder. Those QBs are often the most dangerous and I'd be interested.
  15. How? The Twins have 15-20M to spend even before off loading Kepler and/or Polanco, which sounds like something they are intent on doing.
  16. Uh, I DO want the team to win. I want them to win it all. Looking at the Vikings one game at a time, and only one game at a time is myopic. If you don’t look big picture, you’ll never get to the top.
  17. Not if it means trading up six spots for a QB you want instead of two spots. Or standing pat and missing one altogether. I understood the argument last year better. They clearly didn't have an elite team, but they had an elite record. It was a fun season. This one isn't, and won't be even if they win out.
  18. Exactly why 4-13 is better. You can better build for the future and the only losses that make you sick to your stomach are the ones to the Packers. If this team had 4 wins, we'd be laughing at the ineptness, not languishing in frustration. I'm still watching the games, it's not like I haven't watched bad Vikings teams before. Anything other than being an elite NFL team is pointless in this league.
  19. I'd rather be 4-13 than 8-9. I only want to win a Super Bowl, and 8-9 makes it that much more difficult.
  20. Yeah, I want to have a team that can run the QB sneak at a 95% clip too, but they don't seem to have the personnel, and based on those two plays, they don't practice it enough either.
  21. I haven't cared about an empty playoff appearance all year long.
  22. Because what does going with Dobbs and Mullins accomplish in the long run? And to the second part of that, bad O line or not, Hall or Dobbs still have a decent chance of picking that up.
  23. Any chance you do the opposite of the Childress/Tomlin bit? You just say, we want to keep Flores, sorry O'Connell?
  24. The interior line is awful.
  25. Why can't the Vikings run a QB sneak?
