  1. Sounds like a great communicator. Hopefully these are among his first communications: Robbie, you’re never going to bat cleanup again. Thad, you’re never going to stick a me with guys like Belisle or Wilson. They. Will. Not. Play. Also, call Esco stat. Hey Buck, I’ve got your back Hey Miggy, get your **** together homes
  2. Tough year. Good to finish strong. As tough as it’s been it’s crazy to think that we are just three games going our way from finishing .500
  3. A lot of things went wrong this year. A lot of things went right last year. If things go somewhere comfortably in between next year, we're probably above .500 and at least have a shot.
  4. My biggest frustration with Mauer was he never adjusted. He was so oppo-heavy that teams shifted him aggressively before it was as big of a thing. A lot of sluggers will say they don’t adjust to the shift because they’re trying to hit XBH as it’s a lot easier to score runs / drive in runs with XBH than stringing there singles together. For Mauer, hitting into the shift means he’s not trying to hit XBH - since early in his career so many of those doubles were down the LF line. So his not adjusting argument falls flat to me. There was a great article recently on Lindor and Ramirez. They rank in like the 80s or something for exit velocity and hard hit rate. They just elevate the ball and are ridiculously pull happy. That’s the modern MLB. Joe is the opposite of that.
  5. Is williams a legit prospect, or do his peripherals scream AAAA filler?
  6. Yeah I searched high and low to see what's up. Didn't see an injury reported in the game recap either - so that's my hope.
  7. Let’s look at it this way ... If we were in contention, how would this board react to Severino, Thorpe, and a lottery ticket for a league average rental utility guy who was having a career year?
  8. Four of our starting fielders have been out or below replacement all season. Our staff “ace” has been out all season. Our big free agent SP and power hitting DH have been duds. Our other SP acquisition has been... not good. An awful lot has gone wrong ... and we’re “sweep the royals instead” away from being 4 games out. I dunno if we’ll contend in 2018 or 2019. But I’ll take my chances with Gibson and Berrios anchoring the staff.
  9. ... unless WPA in this context stands for Whoops! Pooped Again. Then he had about 3WPA for me.
  10. Yeah I’d be more keen on extending Gibby than trading him. We have a helluva time developing top of the rotation guys. Gibby might turn into a 2/3. If we can get a true ace and slot Berrios 2 and Gibson 3 we have a rotation that could win playoff series. God what a fun game. Also, WPA is a flawed stat if it rated FRE so highly tonight
  11. The RP starting a game is all about matchups for the SP. Tampa has been trying this at the MLB level. Pitchers generally get worse the third time through the lineup. So the thinking is, if you can have a reliever come in for the 1st that is a good matchup (Eg LHP vs a lefty dominant top of lineup), then by the time the starter gets into the third trip through the lineup, he’s not starting at 1-6, but instead 4-9. So as he fatigues he’s facing potentially worse hitters (7-9) instead of 4-6
  12. Jesus if we had taken 2/3 from an awful KC team we’d be only 5.5 back with a mega soft next 30 games or so. Season of missed opportunities.
  13. Damn. Rooker started out so slow this year. But wow has he made adjustments. I know an offense that could use that.
  14. I have mailed it in this season. Probably next season too. 2020 feels like the year now. The rotation might be elite by then. Rosario in his prime. Maybe kirilloff and Lewis are up. Possibly Buxton and sano figure it out. Sigh.
  15. Pair this staff with last years offense and we’d be a good team.
  16. Looking forward to some promotions to high-A. Lewis, Kiriloff. Maybe even that phenom sano we’ve been hearing about if he tears it up down there.
  17. Let’s not get the offensive drums beating just yet. 5 or 6 hits. A walk. A balk. Very timely hitting today. The building blocks of offense were still atrocious. Just bunched a few together tonight.
  18. If the twins have a gazillion pitchers, why is Pressley pitching in every game?
  19. I just want to say ... I turned to my buddies during the game (section 118 row 9) and said “I’m gonna call it. Mitch is gonna Hit a bomb to left here in this AB”. Boom. You’re welcome.
  20. It's going to be a lot of fun 'round these parts if Buxton puts up an April / May '18 similar to Aug / Sept '17.
