  1. I agree with this too. Who is available and then even where in the lineup the opponent is plays into it for me. If whoever I bring in gets out of the bases loaded jam unscathed but the top or heart of the order would then likely be due up in the 9th, the decision of who to bring is will be different than if it's the bottom of the order we're talking about. These decisions aren't made in a vacuum. I still have to play out the rest of the game. At some point, the other arms in the bullpen have to step up. It doesn't matter when they pitch. There's more guys in the pen that I want nowhere near a high leverage, late game situation than I trust in them.
  2. They're a .500 team in a putrid division. Can't possibly rate them higher. They're average at best, C. Edit: Just wanted to add that they're pretty much where I figured they'd be. Hovering around .500 with little offense, a good rotation and a questionable bullpen that can be streaky good or streaky bad at any given stretch.
  3. Sure, but what do you do in the 8th or 9th then? If the bullpen blows the lead at that point, you're on Rocco for using his best reliever too early in the game. You can't rely on just one bullpen arm all of the time. Other pitchers have to step up.
  4. That's kinda my point though. If he never throws it for a strike, there's no reason to swing. The threat is there that he does now, so you have to respect that he'll do it. Hitters can just sit on the fastball.
  5. Wouldn't that negate the effectiveness of it though? Batters would just let it go. They'd at least have to time it out if it was a strike.
  6. It's been so long since he's worked that he can qualify for Unemployment benefits.
  7. I like the version of Moran that finished that inning over the one that started it.
  8. Haha! Charity works for me! That said, Kirilloff needs to settle down. The ump is living in his head rent free and that's not good.
  9. Fair, but the current state is not at all what I would have envisioned.
  10. If you were to tell me before the game that Ryan wouldn't get his first K until the 12th out, I'd have been pretty worried about the outcome of his start.
  11. I picked the wrong game to incorrectly input into my calendar. That's kinda frustrating.
  12. If so, I'd be happy to share my Scotch to help them get over it.
  13. I was referring specifically to the play at the plate, but yours works too.
