  1. P-Flo has got to go... back to AAA. Chances that Flo raises his BA 40 points? Same chance I have for getting lucky with Miss Universe. Zip. Zilch. Zero. Notta. No way Jose.
  2. I try to send tweets to Brian Dozier regularly requesting audio samplings from Silky Smooth. So far no success. I won't give up. I will have Silky Smooth audio in my ears.
  3. Hughes, Nolasco, Gibson, Meyer, May I could see Pelfrey nipping out Meyer/May early in the season if either or both struggle as we head into the 2nd half of this season.
  4. I'm not one to stand in the way of half-drunk ideas being great, so I'll try not to rain on your parade. At this point, I'd be more inclined to believe that Aaron Hicks would have more success raising his BA 40 points than Joe Mauer does. I think both will be better going forward, and I really hope the Twins bring back Hicks sooner than later.
  5. Everyone knows that the best way to learn to hit RHP's breaking balls from the RH batters box is by batting from the LH batters box. It's science.
  6. Can't say enough good things about Trevor May's maturation as a pitcher over the last 2 seasons.

  8. You can download the new Talk to Contact (@TalkToContact) episode via iTunes or by clicking here, and if you want to add the show to your non-iTunes podcast player, this is the RSS Feed. No reason to bury the lead, Trevor May is BACK! Trevor talked about his approach to pitching, what he’s been doing in 2014 that has allowed him to be successful, and how much fun he’s having as a member of the outstanding pitching staff in Triple-A Rochester. Just Cody and Eric this week, in addition to talking with Trevor May, they talk about what the Twins have been doing well (pitching) and what they have not been doing at all (hitting) in the past week. They also take a shot at predicting the Twins’ All-Star representative (and fail), and they whip around the world for beers and around the league to talk about great pitching from Clayton Kershaw and bad pitching from Justin Verlander. 84 minutes of cool dudes talkin’ ball. Thanks for the download. 10. JAROD BURTON DOESN'T HAVE A LOW TO MID 4 ERA. YOU CAN'T JUST TAKE OUT BAD OUTINGS AND KEEP THE GOOD ONES. I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE cherry picking stats. Jarod Burton is donezo. Jardon Burton has gotten the Twins INTO more jams that out of them. Stop giving the guy so much credit. There are other guys in the bullpen and down in Rochester who can and should be allowed to pitch instead of Burton.
  11. People keep talking about moving Correia for something more than a bag of balls. I don't know how that happens. He doesn't make a contender better, or keep anyone in the race longer. I don't totally hate the idea of promoting Berrios next season, but like the rest of the gang I think we need to see him at AA before anyone gets too excited.
  12. I'm more than a little sad that the Bull Dozier shirts from Minncentric have a bull and not a bulldozer. I'm getting one anyways, because those minncentric shirts are just so comfy and classy. http://minncentric.com/collections/frontpage/products/bull-dozier
  13. I would have responded to this question earlier but I've been in a deep trance chanting "designate Jarod Burton for assignment" over and over and over.
  14. I don't want to beat a dead horse, but I will, because I'm a sadist and a dead horse cant feel it, but it may help tenderize my horse steak I'm having for dinner. Trading Hughes doesn't make any sense. He's a guy who can be a part of the future of success in Minnesota for the next couple years+. Hammer, Kurt's Mortorcycle Shop and Kendrys can all go and should fetch something in return. I'm not sure what value Correia has except to eat innings, and there are a lot of back of the rotation guys who can do that everywhere and anywhere. He doesn't make a ballclub better for a playoff run this season or anytime in the future. Same with Burton and the rest. There are really just the big three to move, unless I'm missing something. I'd be happy if the Twins move all or none of them. Keeping them makes this team for fun to watch down the stretch, even if they never find themselves in contention. Moving them means acquiring guys for the future, and for a team who I pegged to win 72-75 games this season, working towards the future sounds like a good idea.
  15. Scoring runs is hard, you guys. I know there's been a lot of talk about the bullpen blowing games in Boston this week, but let's make sure to complain about the lack of offensive production too. The pitchers only gave up 5 runs in 3 games, I'll take that each and every series. Scoring 2 runs in 3 games is the bigger issue.
  16. Who is getting optioned off the 25-man roster?! Please be Jared "Just Bombs" Burton. Guy has been a wreck from his first outing of the season.
  17. With Aaron Hicks, Sam Fuld and SS Danny Santana on the roster, what's the use in bringing in Seizmore? I'm in the Hicks camp. Sam Fuld is a fine 4th OFer and Danny Santana is a good insurance policy as long as he keeps hitting. Hard to argue taking DS out of the lineup with such a hot bat, but I really hope he gets more reps at SS.
  18. I'm excited about Pino's call-up. If he falters, Meyer/May will be only a call away. And i think more than anything, this move is good for all of the pitchers in AAA who are pitching great. let the great migration begin! With that being said, a question: Will James "Just Bombs" Burton still be on the 25-man when the mid-summer classic comes to down? Who replaces him on the roster?
  19. I think the Orioles have a specific need for C, and if Suzuki is made available it could be a good fit for a team making a push for the playoffs. The trouble is, I don't think the Twins will be far enough out to be sellers, or close enough to go all in. Again we'll see the Twins stand pat.
  20. Agree, completely. I don't think the Twins will be sellers. I think the team will be close enough that the FO won't want to sell, but not close enough for them to go all in and reach for a guy like Samaraja (SP?) or Price. I just hope the team continues to battle. They seem to be confident they can score runs, even when they get down by 4 or 5 runs early. I like that. It makes the games more enjoyable, but I'm not sure they have enough to make a real run at post-season glory, and I'm not sure it's a good idea to risk the greatness of future teams for a wild-card berth.
  21. As guys from AAA get moved in the starting rotation and bullpen spots, I forsee some significant troubles as they get their feet wet at the MLB level. I don't think this team can win 76 games, but like Seth, I'd be happy to be wrong. 73-75 wins makes 2014 a success. The real question is will this team, like the Twins of the past couple seasons, tank horrendously in September when they are clearly out of the race?
  22. I'm with Thrylos on this. Good for Pino. I'm not for using Deduno in close games, especially with runners on base. He hasn't been very good at stranding inherited runners when he worked out of the pen early in the season, so his low ERA early on was deceptive of the work he was doing. AAA has guys in the bullpen to replace Deduno if he can't get himself under control. Same for Jared 'Just Bombs' Burton. I also think that recalling Pino is the beginning of a line of promotions for guys in AAA. Meyer/Mey cannot be far behind.
  23. Cody, you know how I feel about Aaron Hicks. I love his OBP skills. And with Danny Santana continuing to play way way over his head, Hicks can slot in at the bottom of the lineup, especially a deeper lineup with the Morales signing, and Hicks can be a big asset to a front of the lineup with some pop (see Brian Dozier). If Hicks can battle and take good ABs from the bottom of the lineup to set the table for the guys at the top, while playing passable defense in CF, well heck, that's a quality MLB player. Sam Fuld is hitting .228/.290/.380, Hicks is currently .198/.338/.262 but has considerably more upside. I know everyone is hating on Hicks for his low BA, but as Cody pointed out, since he gave up being a switch hitter he's coming around. And I just don't understand how the Twins cant find room for a guy who gets on base. Base runners turn into runs. Is 30 points of BA and 118 points of SLG worth sacrificing nearly 50 points of OBP? I don't think so. Let Hicks mature against MLB caliber breaking balls at the MLB level. Hicks can do it, he's our man, if he can't do it... EDDIE ROSARIO CAN! How about Danny Santana at SS, Escobar at 3B and Hicks in CF when he gets back while we all wait for Trevor Plouffe to recover?
  24. This article is the single greatest thing to come from the No Juice Podcast, if somehow it is a result of said podcast. I'm greedy for more pictures from behind the scenes in the DSL. Thanks for letting us see a bit behind the curtain, so to speak.
