  1. FanGraphs is the best, except for maybe NotGraphs, which is the main reason I found and fell in love with FanGraphs. Carson Cistulli, you slay me.
  2. To paraphrase noted patriot, and Atlanta Braves fan, Patrick Henry who was calling for Bryce's head "Give me Bryce Harper, or give me death."
  3. Is there a way to add a signature type deal to the end of your blog posts without putting it in manually? Really neat if there's a way. What about linking directly from my outside blog to my TD blog. Like let's say I blog over at my independent site www.baseballtwins.com, is there a way to get those posts to automatically appear on my TD blog?
  4. They may take our Colabello, but they will never take our COW BELLS! Nice piece on a nice story. I, for one, hope we haven't seen the last of the Italian Hitman.
  5. Ain't to party like a AA party, because a AA party don't stop. Wait, what? Congrats, Bux. Looking forward to seeing you roaming Target Field this time next season. Huzzah!
  6. There's a new fad going around MLB with funny signs trolling players. Hunter Pence has been trolled pretty hard by fans across the country, and the Astros mascott, Orbit, was giving it to J.P Arencibia pretty good when Tornoto was in town last week. My favorite was "J.P. Arencibia cried during the Notebook." That's prime time, grade-A, trolling. Joe Mauer is the face of the Twins ballclub, but this season he's struggled to play up to Joe Mauer levels, and to stay healthy. Fans have been booing Mauer, both in real life, and all over the Twitter machine. If you're going to get down on Mauer, let's do it in a more creative way. let's have a little fun. Let's troll Joe Mauer. Here are some signs I'd recommend taking on your next trip to Target Field "Joe Mauer puts cream and sugar in his coffee." "Joe Mauer gets beat up by his brother Jake." "Joe Mauer thinks Christian Ponder is a good QB." "My mom has better sideburns than Joe Mauer." "Joe Mauer let the dawgs out." "Joe Mauer took the last cup of coffee and didn't make a new pot." "Joe Mauer has dandruff." "Joe Mauer doesn't eat his peas and carrots." And my own personal favorite "Joe Mauer prefers cats over dogs" _____________________________ Follow me, @BaseballPirate, on Twitter. 7. Are you insinuating that Joe Mauer is actually from Wisconsin? Baby Jesus is no cheese head, or cheese pizza for that matter. He's a tall glass of milk. "with Midwestern-style pizza cut in squares. And the pizza’s good." CUT IN SQUARES! FOR THE WIN!

    Secret Cabin

A lot of things in this article ring true with me, espcially salivating at the idea of a Trade between the BoSox and Twins for Baby Jesus a couple years back. Man, coulda been a franchise changer. But, I also remember all the chatter waiting for Joe to sign his extension. I'm pretty sure that I would have given up on the Twins if they let Joe go. Twins fans need to remember how great he has been, not just the injuries of the last few seasons. He's Joe Mauer, hometown hero, and he's here for the long haul, the dollars are all spent. Enjoy the show. And the pizza.
  9. Pretty sure that team would fail miserably against MLB talent. Give it a few years, yes, probably a very good group of players up and coming, but some of those guys have a long way to go before they'd be ready to put on cleats with the boys of MLB. But yeah, whoa, lots of talent. It's going to be fun watching them progress.
  10. Those Jimmy Buffet jerseys are some of the worst sports memorabilia I've ever seen. Someone paid $1000 to raise money for a worthy cause, and I'll support that, but those jerseys, wowsers. That being said, I'd love in MLB teams did things like this, put some more fun into the game. Maybe MLB doesn't allow heinous jersey nights, but man, I think it would be fun. Who doesn't want a Twins Zubaz jersey? Or a cat jersey night? Oh man. I'm getting excited.
  11. Don't forget we also got beer robots curtesy of the ASG
  12. Trevor Maybe we should wait a few starts before we jump to any conclusions.
  13. Joe Mauer has come a long way since joining the Twins organization. 18, straight out of HS, and now 31, married, twin girls and a concussion issue that forced him from behind the plate. The Twins will almost surely be unable to squeeze 92 million worth of value from him over the next 4 years, but if he can age gracefully at 1B/DH and maybe play some corner OF (gasp!) he can still be a big part of Twins success going forward. Bottom of the 9th, down by a run, man on 2nd, 2 outs... who do you want at the plate? There aren't many guys in the league that I'd pick over Joe Mauer, and there certaintly isn't anyone on the Twins roster I'd pick over Mauer... and we saw him deliver in his first game back in a very similiar situation to the one I described above. Joe Mauer is going to Joe Mauer. He just needs to figure out what he can do to keep himself in playable condition.
  14. Plouffe has more than provided enough value relative his draft position. No complaints. He was Babe Ruth for all of a month, and as you noted, has improved both offensively and defensively the last year+. I like Plouffe. I hope he grows a massive beard between now and next season. DJ MAZR was probably up late dropping sick beats down in the record studio prior to his Twins debut in O.co. You play in a ****-stadium, you throw ****. It happens. I'm not worried about his devlopment, not now, not ever. He's got talent.
  15. "Joe Mauer prefers cats over dogs" and other signs to make to troll Joe Mauer. A new blog. Oh yeah. it's coming.
  16. Hopefully Hammer Time happens frequently in KC. I'd love to see Hammer help get the Royals the AL Central crown over Detroit. Anyone but Detroit. Well, anyone except the 3itchSox.
  17. I think Santana can handle CF, but he should also be getting reps at SS, at least once a week. Eduardo Escobar, who doesn't play stellar D, is not a black hole offensively, quite the opposite, and just continues to pound doubles. If Santana isn't playing SS, Escobar should be there. I don't understand Gardy continuing the put Nunez in at SS. Back to the OF. Hopefully Hicks can take his hot hitting from AA and get soemthign going at the MLB level. I'm in no hurry to see him back in a Twins uniform, at least not until Rochester is done, bring him up in September. With Willy and Fuld gone, guys like Parms, Arcia (when healthy) and maybe even Pinto should get some reps in the corners. If Pinto isn't a future catcher, getting him reps in the OF might be a wise idea, especially with DH/1B guys like Vargas, Arcia, Sano (?) coming up behind him. CF is a tough spot. Hopefully Hicks responds and can be the bridge to Buxton, but let's pump the breaks on Bux just a bit. He just got moved to AA. If he does well there, let's get a bit crazier. It'll be fun to see him at ST next season. I guess to sum it all up, I don't really care who the Twins throw out there as long as they are guys who could be part of the future, and it seems just about everyone is. Parms needs to play to see if the org wants to hold onto him this winter. And I do like the idea suggested above about getting Plouffe some reps in the corners too.
  18. I have no problem with bringing Zook back. If Pinto isn't ready to be a full-time catcher, there's not anyone else at the high-minors who can do that. Glad they extended him. It seems, however, that Pinto is ready to come back to MLB, if only to mash baseballs. Maybe that's his long-term value. I know there are a lot of DH/1B types on this team already, but it seems Pinto is a far better roster stash than Fryer. All in all this season has been a disappointment, but it hasn't been a lost season. Buxton was delayed but is now at AA. Sano lost a year, but I think as a whole the team and the organization are moving in the right direction, it's just going to take longer than expected to be competetive both within the division and for a WS title.
  19. Revenue runs baseball, I get that, but I'd sure love to see more day games on the schedule, even if that means it's harder to put butts in seats. TV deals are making a significant portion of teams budgets and watching a game during the day is something I'd like to see more of. Maybe the next commish will give us that. Maybe he'll just be the next guy who manages to get 30-0 votes from owners and is just their little pony. I don't know. Having no real info on any of these guys other than what I've read the last couple weeks, either of the three should be fine. Can't see any one of them doing anything crazy. I'd like to see them add 2 teams to get rid of interleague everyday and move to two divisons in each league. Maybe even have 2 play in games for the post season. Divison winners get a bye, and the next 4 best teams in each league play a play in to head to the divisional round. Who knows. maybe we'll get balanced schedules too, at least within each league. I'd like to see that too.
  20. Kevin Correia, we hardly knew you.. wait, um, we knew you, we knew you well. And he pitched a gem for the Dodgers against the Barves. While it's only one start, and KC has been known to throw a good game surrounded by clunkers, I think this is just another nail in the coffin for Rick Anderson and Gardy. I don't know how Gardy sticks with Anderson through this all. I know he hasn't had a great deal to work with and that they've been best buds since their playing days with the Mets, but sometimes you have to make a business decision. I'd be a lot more inclined to let Gardy finish his contract in MN despite all the losing if he was willing to make significant changes, changes that include Rick Anderson working (or not working) somewhere else. I hope KC does well for the Dodgers down the stretch. Who knows, me may even make their post-season roster. Even if he doesn't he's now got a really nice chance at a WS ring. very nice for a wiley old veteran who started his season pitching for the Minnesota Twins.
  21. I hope to never have to be the player who was traded for Kevin Correia. Unless it's Drew Butera. #BoatAnchor #Forever
  22. Oh boy oh boy! Finally! #DJMAZR!
  23. Herrmann hold it down? If the Twins were left with Pinto and Herrmann I think the front office would be scrambling to find a replacement anyway they could. Pinto may yet have value behind the plate, but I don't think you want Herrmann on the roster unless it's as an emergency 3rd catcher... which is something you don't actually need.
  24. What about Don Baylor who is currently the hitting coach for the Angels and was a member of the 87 WS team? I don't know. But Ronald "Clyde" Gardenhire needs to go. Hell, I'd even vote for Drew Butera to be a player coach for this team.
