  1. Question -- would it be unfair to the contenders if Gardy used 3 callups in every game to be consistent?
  2. Because this is a lost season, I would like to see as many September callups as possible. As a fan, this will give me more reason to watch games, and more hope that another prospect will surprise us like Santana and Vargas. Mauer, Plouffe, Dozier, Escobar and Suzuki could benefit from some days off and I think that it would be fun to watch some prospects take their shots. It also makes sense to me that rewarding achievement at AA and AAA sends a positive message to all the minor league prospects -- work hard and you will get a shot. What would be lost by calling up a few of the more deserving prospects?
  3. Moderator note -- I just deleted about 5 posts from this thread. The problem began when one poster characterized another poster's opinion as "a lie". That was a clear violation of TD policy and that poster has been issued an infraction point. I also deleted related posts, because they were part of a digression from the baseball discussion. I appreciate everyone's passion here, but people need to remember that we all have the same dream -- a winning team. We may disagree about how to get there, but we share a common mania. TD is a place for RESPECTFUL discussion. All posters must give respect to fellow Twins fans, even when they feel that the other person is clearly wrong. Feel free to disagree and debate, but make the effort to to follow our policy, which can be found in the TwinsCentric forum.
  4. This is interesting and informative. I look forward to you posting more.
  5. I used Ticket King a few weeks ago and am very satisfied with their pricing and service. With the TD discount, it's a good bargain.
  6. I am using Chrome and the TD logo at the top left tends to block the text when I am reading forums and PMs. Is anyone else experiencing this?
  7. Nice blog, tobi, and some thoughtful responses. I still dream of Mauer being tried out at 3B.
  8. What about his defense?
  9. Cardinals fan, Bark? Really? I love you like a brother my friend, and Veronica is like a sister to me, and it hurts me to think that you could root for a team that has a red bird on their jersey. Surely you realize that cardinals are the flying rats of the bird kingdom and have been known to eat worms after a rainstorm. As for John's head versus heart dilemma, I feel your pain. Justin has long been one of my favorite players and I share your feeling that this seems like a move that was designed mainly to put $2.6 million into the Pohlad coffers. Then I wonder if maybe that $2.6 million may eventually go towards a free agent or something else that will help going forward. Like many issues that we are seeing, it may take months to make an accurate assessment. If the PTBNL turns out well and/or the Twins sign Morneau next year then my heart will feel better. Otherwise, I will feel that this was a cheesy move to save money by disrespecting a player who has made huge contributions and disrespecting the fans by dishonoring a player who has earned their appreciation.
  10. I wonder how much credit the Marlins might give for cash. If there was some way for the Twins to throw in $10 million or more of cash, maybe the Marlins might consider lesser prospects?
  11. Thanks Seth. Not many games but you made it interesting.
  12. Kinda like basketball and football, defense tends to separate the winners from the losers.
  13. Welcome back old friend. I have missed you.
  14. It seems to me that Brad must have put a lot of effort into this blog, and a few of the responses have shown little respect for that effort. Most of our members are not professional baseball writers, but we want to encourage people to be creative and put their ideas out there to be discussed. When another member is clearly trying his best to provide an interesting blog, please respect the effort that went into it and try to be constructive in your criticism. Personally, a lot of this blog exceeded my statistical vocabulary, but the parts that I did understand were very interesting to me, particularly the analysis about how it's not easy to acquire Gagne level middle infielders. I am grateful to Brad for his hard work and hope that he posts more soon.
  15. This is hilarious -- thanks for making me smile.
  16. Nice post, and Merry Christmas.
  17. Plouffe seems to have the talent. When Plouffe is hot, he is a formidable hitter and a passable fielder. Maybe this will be the year when it all gels for Plouffe.
  18. I agree and hope that he gets a shot this year.
  19. I think that the Cubs are different because they will have plenty of money to spend once they are ready to spend it. And the Astros may never be able to spend very much. I think that the Twins are somewhere in the middle.
  20. Good one. I needed something positive and enjoyed this.
  21. Sometimes I wonder whether Gomez or Benson might have done better if they had spent more time in AAA.
  22. This is a great blog, and I hope that the Twins explore this. I also wonder why a low budget team can have so many great starters while the Twins have so few. Is this scouting, coaching, draft strategy or luck?
  23. When I read Thrylos' original post I was skeptical. But even if I had believed what I said, I would not be very upset to learn that he was mistaken. We live in a difficult world, and being misled about Baker was not a big deal to me. And it seems to me that the TD leadership handled this with thoughtfulness and restraint. If they had erased the thread, then that would have bothered me. But the thread is still there for all to see, and Thrylos received a lot of criticism that is still there for people to read. This is my favorite Twins site and I am hopeful that we can all move on and have even more fun next year. I value everyone who posts here, whether I agree with them or not, and even if they disagree with me. We share a common bond that adds meaning to our lives, and when the Twins win, Thrylos will be our brother in celebrating the victory.
