  1. I hate being behind in the first inning almost every damn game. I hate the fact that the Twins have failed to develop even a marginally decent group of starting pitching prospects. And I hate feeling like there is little hope for improvement.
  2. I hate it when I check the score in the first inning and Twins are already behind.
  3. Another very impressive analysis by Parker with visual proof. Maybe getting back to his 2009 form could make a big difference for Blackburn, and I agree with Parker's conclusion that trying this could not hurt.
  4. Potential aces are rare and hard to acquire. It seems to me that Chief's idea would make sense for both sides. I would prefer 2/$12 to 3/$24, but I don't think that 3/$24 would be ridiculous. From Liriano's point of view, there is a risk of injury and a risk of not doing well for the balance of this season. In either of these events, he could end up with much less than 2/$12. Or Liriano could be light out the rest of this season, in which case he would have given up an opportunity to make a lot more. From the Twins point of view, they might get an ace at a bargain price or they might get another Nick Blackburn type outcome. This is how deals get made in the business world when there is uncertainty -- both sides meet in the middle based on rational evaluations of their upsides and downsides. Considering the value of an ace (especially on the postseason), it seems like a risk that the Twins should consider. And considering that a shoulder injury could cause Liriano's best offer as a free agent to be 0/$0, he and his agent would be fools not to at least listen.
  5. Good one Brian. Goober is probably upset today about Obamacare, but tomorrow he will feel no shame getting free care at his local emergency room.
  6. I think that a trip back to AAA might give Dozier a less stressful route to improving his skills. But maybe the people who say that he can do this at the MLB level are correct. Either way, I would like to see Florimon eventually get a chance, even if only as a September call up.
  7. This is an interesting update. I have renewed hope that a decent starter may be lurking in here somewhere.
  8. Great article. one takeaway for me is that Vavra and Anderson may be doing a better job than some people might have surmised.
  9. Good job on this report. I am glad to see Buxton get his first hit.
  10. I agree with all of this and would love to see one of our gurus address these issues.
  11. Thanks for your hard work on this, especially the links to the box scores.
  12. Why does almost every other team seem to have better pitching prospects than the Twins?
  13. I feel sorry for the fans who are at Target Field today watching this debacle.
  14. I have now given up on any material chance of the Twins making the postseason.
  15. Another great post Brian. I agree with you that patience is the wisest approach to maximizing value here.
  16. Great article. Syndergaard and Nicolino both seem very tempting. I continue to wonder why the Twins seem unable to identify and draft quality pitchers of the caliber. The Twins could have picked these guys, but did not. Maybe the Twins are just not good at scouting young starters?
  17. We needed something positive tonight. And I hope that this kid can stay up permanently.
  18. I never really paid any attention to BYTO and am not sure what caused the demise of your site. Maybe someone can explain that. In the meantime, I would like to be the first to attempt to recruit you to Plouffetism. If you click this link you can see our clubhouse:
  19. Great article. But do you think that the Twins should give up on the only pitcher on the 40 man roster who seems to have a real chance of being an ace next year? I am hoping that they sign him to a multi-year incentive laden deal.
  20. Great article. Thanks for your hard work on this.
  21. Agreed. No fault. I was merely wishing.
  22. On a positive note, Hendriks and Robertson both pitched well. If that can carry forward, it will be very good.
  23. At least they made it close. I wish Span had been a bit more patient.
  24. If we win this, the White Sox will be completely demoralized, which could lead to another Twins win tomorrow.
  25. Carroll with anything keeps us alive.
