  1. 2014 is the year Kepler needs to show us something. I kinda like Santana but I would put Thorpe in his place given some of the recent scouting reports.
  2. I think all TD members who created an account before 2-20-12, should get in for free. Just sayin...
  3. Does anybody know of a bank that will loan me $700,000,000? I'll even offer my car as collateral, its worth about 5k
  4. If one could steal first, Gordon would be a star. I'm not interested at all
  5. Interesting to see Fernando Romero in the top 20. I suppose the development of his secondary pitches will determine if he ends up being a starter or a reliever.
  6. In a couple months when people like Keith Law, Jonathan Mayo and others do their rankings, I don't see the Twins falling out of the top 3. They have 2 elite prospects and a pretty deep system beyond that.
  7. Tyler Jones has some good stuff but he was a bit old for the levels he pitched at. Luke Bard would be most likely of this group to reach the show, if he could just get and stay healthy. Darnell, despite his solid numbers, just doesn't really feel like a prospect to me.
  8. In my unprofessional opinion, Melotakis is the most likely on this list to reach the show. I say this under the assumption that he will ultimately be in the bullpen. I still think Wimmers could be solid. Nice job so far Seth!
  9. Larson is the only one from this group that intrigues me. Michael looks like a bust.
  10. Don't you still cry when you get a flu shot, Puck? I agree with your hesitation about getting hopes up. I however, DO think we've hit rock bottom. We might still be a few years away from contention because our young core will surely have some growing pains. I think we'll see a steady improvement starting next year. On a different note, regarding this thread, I wasn't sure what to expect. Glad to see some new names chime in.
  11. I haven't met Terry Ryan either. My opinion about him being cheep is simply an observation as a fan on the outside looking in. I appreciate the rest of your story. It was a good read.
  12. This is the 3rd year in a row that a pitcher with no real big league future wins the minor league pitcher of the year award.
  13. I think Terry Ryan is not only inherently cheap, he simply doesn't like to take risks, weather on the FA market or making big trades when the team is contending. Even though the Pohlads seem to be giving their blessing to spend some money, I have a hard time believing TR will make a big signing. The Twins have never been in a better position to go after a guy like Tanaka, yet I would be floored if our favorite team was announced as the highest bidders. I don't think Terry Ryan can stand the thought of feeling responsible if, God forbid, a big ticket signing doesn't work out.
  14. We'll let his performance determine how it should be pronounced;)
  15. Would be great to see more scouting reports on him. The intrigue has definitely gone up.
  16. Not really a prospect at all. Pitched decent out of the bullpen for Cedar Rapids, a league that he is too old for. He was terrible in 2012, despite pitching in the pitcher friendly FSL.
  17. yeah, ok:whacky028:
  18. Yoon will be our consolation prize when we come up just short on Tanaka:th_alc:
  19. Obviously I don't have access to the clubhouse, but one guy that I could see being a team leader and energizer some day is Oswaldo Arcia. Sometimes the camera will get shots of him in the dugout showing him to be that kind of player. Anybody else make that observation or is it just me? Of course he is still young has work to do on his own game before he could really take on that roll.
  20. Just out of curiosity, have they set a date for the Tanaka bidding to begin? Not that I have high hopes or anything, just wondering...
  21. I don't put much stock into proximity. But as I pointed out, he gave them the same grade, so I figured proximity would be the tie breaker. I asked Sickels about this on twitter, he said he went back and forth with these two and the recent shoulder issue for Meyer was the tiebreaker. He also says he was trying to stay consistent with his last top 75 list.
  22. One very small thing I found odd. He puts Stewart ahead of Meyer even though he gave them both the same grade. I would think the edge would go to Meyer since he is closer the show. I was also surprised about Thorpe. Very encouraging to hear he added some ticks to his fastball. Like many, I usually don't put much stock into GCL stats especially for pitchers. But if he's added velocity, we could really have something.
  23. I'd like to know more about Thorpe and Jorge as well. The only scouting reports I've seen are the ones from when they were 16 year olds. It'd be nice to see something a little more up to date. Polanco is a good sleeper since he has't really gotten much attention from guys like Sickels, Mayo and Law. I though some of the people that commented were a little too conservative with Sano. One guy thought he should start the year in AA with a chance to move to AAA late in the year. I think he has to start in AAA and unless he's overmatched, get him to Target Field sometime in May.
