  1. Batting line - .253/.314/.353 with 14 2B, 2 3B and 3 HRs. Current K/BB raio = 76/21. With his his 299 PA's, he's currently at a 25.4% rate and walking at a 7.02% rate. Fielding - Fld% = .974, Errors = 8, RF/G = 4.21 Not a big change from last week except for an extra 2 doubles. The fact that he hasn't walked in a week is a little concerning though.
  2. Nicely done.
  3. I would have to think that the Twins see Sano as part of a possible 2014 or 2015 run. I would put him on an "untouchable" list and keep him in the organization. There's too much potential there. You listed some good pitchers (As much as I like him, I don't think Buehrle should be on the list of pitchers to look at), but I think there are other ways to get pitching without giving up one of your future core players for a playoff run next year that still looks like a pipe dream.
  4. I don't see Torii as a fit. Arcia, Hicks and Benson are all close and could be competing for an outfield spot next year. And if we are truly rebuilding, these are the guys you want out there getting experience. Even if they're not ready by the beginning of next season, you can plug the RF hole with Parmelee. I get the veteran presence argument, but the team already has vets like Willingham, Doumit, Morneau and Mauer.
  5. Is there a better time to give an update about my favorite adopted prospect than the day after he goes 3-4 with a walk and a double? Seems like a pretty good time to me. Batting line - .260/.324/.358 with 12 2B, 2 3B and 3 HRs. Current K/BB raio = 68/21. With his his 254 PA's, he's currently at a 26.8% rate and walking at a 8.27% rate. Fielding - Fld% = .973, Errors = 8, RF/G = 4.28 Keep up the good work Pedro! Hopefully, we'll see you in Minnesota at least by September.
  6. I don't know that the Twins would want to trade a valuable trade chip (Span) for a veteran pitcher. If one pitcher was all that the Twins needed, then maybe. But I think if the Twins decide to trade Span, they should go for young guys with high upside. Shields is a good pitcher and I would love to have him in the rotation, but I really wouldn't be happy if we traded Span for Shields straight up. Now if there were a trade for Shields and a few Rays pitching prospects for Span and one or two Twins prospects, that might be a different story.
  7. I really like this idea as a way to compare darftees. Everyone's prospect lists usually end up pretty similar, so it's nice to see the names by production as well. Please keep this going.
  8. They were involved because they received revenue sharing $$$ last year. The Cardinals are involved because they are in the 10 smallest markets. That's only because they must not make enough from their TV deal. I really forgot about this when the new CBA was announced. When you have teams like the Cardinals and the Tigers, it doesn't really seem like this draft should be called the "competitive balance" draft. I think the owners and Bud Selig just wanted to see what it would be like to be able to trade draft picks.
  9. I was actually referring to Dusty Hughes. We selected Maloney from the Reds and Gray from the Mariners, so they don't count for this one.
  10. The last time we claimed a pitcher, it worked out well, right?
  11. Well, Ulger isn't doing a worse job than he did as a 3rd base coach. from what I've seen, bench coaches are there for exactly the reason you described. But here's what the Wikipedia says (always the most reliable source:p): The position of bench coach is relatively new in baseball. On most teams, the bench coach is the closest thing a team has to a second-in-command. The bench coach serves as an in-game advisor to the manager, offering situational advice, and bouncing ideas back and forth in order to assist the manager in making game decisions.[3] Should the manager be ejected, suspended, or unable to attend a game for medical or family reasons, the bench coach assumes the position of acting manager or if the manager is fired or resigns, then it is usually the bench who gets promoted to interim manager. The bench coach's responsibilities also include helping to set up the day's practice and stretching routines before a game, as well as coordinating spring training routines and practices.[4] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coach_(baseball) As for what that means for Redmond, I don't know. When I was debating this last weekend, he didn't make my list. But I think that he has spent enough time with other organizations that he wouldn't necessarily fall into the "Twin's Way" style of coaching. I'm not sure he'd be the top of my list of potential new managers, but he might occupy a spot on it.
  12. The Twins should make him the bench coach now. No real need for Ulger.
  13. Is this for 2012 only, or are these career stats?
  14. You're right, he probably wouldn't. But I don't think the Twins will ever fire him. If 2013 is as bad as 2012, I would bet that after that season the Twins and Gardy would announce his retirement. I also agree that most managers that would replace him would probably be a lot worse as well.
  15. Gardy is never getting fired. I would bet that he will announce after the season is done that he will be "retiring" after the 2013 season though. I was just discussing this very topic on Saturday night. Redmond wasn't on my list potential replacements though. He should have been though.
  16. This is only to build trade value. Not even Capps can blow this lead.
  17. You know you're team is losing badly when the Twins pinch hit Mauer for Butera.
  18. I think they should just shoot for 20 runs. Why not, right?
  19. I just hope the Twins didn't use up all the runs for the series with this game.
  20. Nicely put. I would disagree with a few points. I don't think that because we didn't trade Kubel, Cuddy or Joe Nathan last year doesn't mean we won't make moves this year. Those were Bill Smith decisions, not Terry Ryan decisions. I think Smith must have taken enough criticism from the media for the Capps/Ramos trade the year before that it made him unwilling to do anything. At the same time, the Twins were on a winning streak before the deadline and he probably honestly thought that the team was back in contention. He was definitely wrong. But losing those three guys did strengthen the organization through extra draft picks. These are probably all points of a 1%'er though. I think my long rant provided more proof of the type of people that read and post on this site.
  21. Thanks for coming by and talking about the movie. I saw the trailer for this a while ago and I'm really excited to see it.
  22. Agreed. As great as it would be to see them keep that up, the sensible part of me knows that they probably won't keep going with those types of performances. A man can dream though...
  23. The funny thing is, Scott Diamond, Some other Guy and What's his face all managed to get quality starts against the #1 ranking offense in Runs, Ave and OBP.
  24. I would love to see this data as well. We have pretty good anecdotal evidence that pitchers aren't afraid to throw to him, but I would love to see some data behind it. Curt- This was a very good write up. Thanks for that.
