Not worked up. Never. Just disagree with your thoughts. That's what the forum is for, right? Discussion and points of view. I respect the right that everyone has the right to think what they feel. Same fun arguments you and Seth probably have all year. All in fun. Walker helps guide Lookouts into SL Finals http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20150914&content_id=149547528&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_l111&sid=l111

I wasn't arguing Walker's numbers over Keplers. Mad Max is the best hitter in the system this year (hands down). I was saying that Walker had a better hitting season than the 5 other people Jeremy selected over Walker. As I tried to compare Walker to Kepler - I guess I was trying to say that Keplers numbers were rare in their own right and allowed "some" argument where as the other 5 don't even compare IMO. Nothing to do with becoming a better prospect or future value. Just the 2015 season value alone. Walker had special 2015 season. With the positives and negatives reaching for former Twin comparisons to think about. Hard to find any. And his positives have him 1 game from his 3rd championship in 4 years.

When you lead the league / organization in Total Bases (250) that should offset the OBP part just a little. And when you put yourself in scoring position more than anyone in the organization (65 XBH) that should offset the OBP part just a little. And when you score 75 times (purpose of the game), which is one less time than Mad Max (deserving winner by the way), OBP doesn't seem as important to me. Max had an OBP and OPS much much higher than Walker, but in terms of how that helped his team win more games, you will have to explain that to me. That is the purpose of the game - Score more runs than your opponent and nobody does it better in the organization (3 years running) than Walker (scoring and rbi collectively). I'm assuming that is why you appreciate OBP and OPS in your hitters? For the purpose of enhancing the ability to scoring runs. Like the song goes: "Nobody does it better"

As always - Great seasonal coverage. Congrats to all the Twins affiliates who are in the upcoming playoffs. Congrats to Adam Brett Walker on becoming the Lookouts All Time HR Record Holder in a Season with 31. His 31 HRs best Larry Drake who had 30 in 1948. The Lookouts were established in 1931. Walkers 106 RBI are also the most from the Southern League franchise in the last 37 years. Big year for Walker (31 2B / 31 HRs / 250 Total Bases) and hopefully a bigger year in the AFL. GO LOOKOUTS

Twins Prospect Named Minor League POY Finalist
TNLooky2015 replied to BoomBoom's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
If you didn't know: 34 2B - 12 3B - 9 HR - .327 BA - 73 Runs Scored - 69 RBI 30 2B - 3 3B - 30 HR - .243 BA - 72 Runs Scored - 103 RBI You could honestly say clueless decision to pick Walker over Kepler. I love Kepler, but what about his numbers scream much more deserving for National Player of the Year than Walker. At least 2 of Walker production numbers are among the top 2 in baseball. His SO numbers will surely keep him from winning along with his BA, but he does have eye popping numbers in certain categories that are not like many others in the game. I'd rather look at them as a great tandem and future of the Twins as pitting them against each other all the time. Both talented in own areas and both with major upside. AND BOTH YOUNG (23 & 22). Not like Walker's an old man. AND BOTH FROM NON BASEBALL HOTBEDS (Milwaukee & Germany). Lol -
6 Grand slams in 2 years is a lot for any player. Down 3 in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs of the deciding championship game of his 1st minor league season (2012) and he hits a 3 run HR to tie game and they eventually win it all. Pinch Hitting is for guys who have a tendency to drive in runs or guys who have a tendency to change the game with one swing. To Walker's credit there is only 1 other person in the minor leagues better than him in those 2 categories. 29 HRs / 30 Doubles / 101 RBI - THAT'S WHAT I WANT FROM MY PINCH HITTER LATE IN GAMES!

MLB Insider: Twins batters have wilted as pinch hitters Their pinch hitters have hit .119 this year, as Paul Molitor looks for answers. How much more could Walker hurt? His upside as a late September Call Up could be huge if he continues to do what he does (29 HRs in 2015 / 25 HRs in 2014 / 27 HRs in 2013 and Post season MVP in 2012). Considering what everyone else has done this season as a pinch hitter - What is there to lose? He has Game Changing capabilities. http://www.startribune.com/mlb-insider-twins-batters-have-wilted-as-pinch-hitters/322596641/

Twins Prospect Named Minor League POY Finalist
TNLooky2015 replied to BoomBoom's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Kepler is having a Tony Gwynn type season and if he continues to play at this level, he could have a HOF career. Walker is having a Ryan Howard type season and if he continues to play at his level, he could have an All Star type career. But despite Gwynn being in the HOF, he has never won an MVP because voters don't find his type of player MVP worthy (right or wrong). Players like Howard on the other hand win all the time. That's baseball. Trout led the American League in strike outs last year and won an MVP. Voters generally go for production (right or wrong) and sprinkle in the higher average among the sluggers. Kepler better prospect - Walker more productive season IMO -

Congrats to ABW II on becoming the Chattanooga Lookouts Home Run Record Holder in a season. Also a shout out on becoming the first minor leaguer to 100 RBI for the 2nd time in the last 3 years. 29 & 100 - http://www.clipsyndicate.com/video/play/5939315?wpid=10957 … Video of Record of HR

Heiker Meneses (2B or SS) just makes plays. Does not look the part, but great hands and instincts.

An encouraging thing about ABW & clutch to me is that he has hit 6 grand slams in the 2 previous full seasons and has hit .316 & .600 respectively with the bases loaded in those seasons. Not as clutch this year with the bases loaded, but has shown the ability to make the play late in games when the score is close. The stat line I like most this year in terms of clutch, is the fact that in close game situations & late in games (28 ABs) - [Walker is hitting .429 BA / .500 OBP / 1.036 SLG / & 1.536 OPS] - that includes 6 SO & 5 BB. They actually keep a stat line for those situations. His stat line with runners in scoring position this year is: .295 BA / .330 OBP / .619 SLG / .949 OPS The HR last night in that above video link was a monster blast. Had to be way over 450 feet.

Twins Minor League Report (7/12): Harrison and Rodriguez Have Big Days

No one and I mean No one can hit the ball as long as ABW. No one and I mean No one can hit the ball over the fence as often as ABW. Literally CRUSHED the ball over the wall today. His strikeouts are phenomenal, as many will use as a punch line, but his home runs are also a thing of beauty. He has more positive PHENOM ability than negative. 1st in minors in HRs (24) is not an easy task. 2nd in minors in RBI (74) is not as easy task either. 3rd in minors in XBHs tells me you do more than hit HRs and begins to gives you Phenom credentials. 3 out of 4 Positive credentials makes you the only person in the system worthy of Phenom talk right now. This is not a one year dog and pony show either. He has been phenomenal every year in this manner.

Will Walker learn how to hit off speed pitches better in AA than AAA? I'm good with your approach to leaving a guy at a level if you have a plan for getting improved results at that same level in the second half of season. Walker's K/BB rate never improves in the second half so why would you keep utilizing the same teaching tool? Nothing to lose by promoting him. Somebody call Jake Mauer and Tommy Watkins and ask them what they did to get Walker's K rate to drop 10%!

I'm praying Kepler is well enough to play in futures game Sunday. He has earned the opportunity. Hey Seth & Jeremy - Who will be called up to Chattanooga to replace him when he does leave this weekend?
-
Wickens got hurt Tuesday on fluke play and Harrison went on DL Tuesday with stomach issues. I would rather a pitcher play OF than Mike Gonzales (DH). It happens unfortunately.

Viagra is for something that doesn't work. That leads me to these questions: 1) If Walker continues to be Walker (crazy productive), when becomes the right time to bring him up for his cup of coffee (23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28)? 2) Do you chalk him up as a worthless minor leaguer (drivelikejehu) based on prospect history and never bring him up until he cuts down on the strikeouts? 3) How long is the leash be when he does arrive (MLB) if he continues to strikeout (league leader rate), yet produces hrs and rbi (league leader rate)? 4) What overrules what if you were GM based on question #3? (strikeouts or production) 4) If he figures it out and cuts his strikeouts down to 28% at the MLB level & walks at a 9% level, what will his legacy become? 4th OF / League Journeyman / Solid Regular / All Star? Those are the real questions that we have to answer moving forward. Then these threads would probably go away. And only the Twins know the answers. Too much intrigue.
