  1. I'm still waiting for the joke ...
  2. Glad I got the game on just in time to see Hicks be an outfielder
  3. I found this, which says sha-gwah, which sounds very Louisiana French.
  4. Game-time forecast: Partly cloudy with a 30-percent chance of rain. Winds blowing in from right field at 10-15 m.p.h. Temperature around 75. INDIANS: SP, Bauer Bourn CF Ramirez SS Brantley DH Santana 1B Murphy RF Chisenhall 3B Aviles 2B Shuck LF Perez C TWINS: SP, Hughes Santana SS Dozier 2B Mauer 1B Vargas DH Plouffe 3B Suzuki C Arcia RF Hicks CF Schafer LF ------------------------------------------- Something witty this way may come ... (I said may ...) ... ------------------------------------------- Clearly... A long shot... May won't come either. It's Hughes Tonight. May will come tomorrow!!! Things to Think About: 1. The Indians Chances -- They are 4.5 games behind the Royals and the Mariners are still in front of them for a wild card spot. The Indians will have to get real hot and they have to get hot starting right now. I really don't like the Indians chances but I'm not a math major. We will have to turn to Ash for a professional assessment. Hopefully something with charts and graphs. 2. The Twins Chances -- After winning two in a row from the Tigers... It's beginning to look like the Twins may not reach the 4th pick overall. Maybe if they get swept by the D-Backs but they may need help from the Indians this weekend. 3. Royals/Tigers -- It's awfully hard to think about the Twins right now... The Royals and Tigers head to head is gonna creep in to my thoughts. How can it not... It may not be the playoffs but this is absolutely playoff baseball like. It's all on the line and the Mariners (or A's) will be trying to pick over any teams corpse should a sweep occur. I will be cheering for the Royals loudly. 4. The NL Race -- Seems like it's over... I'll be surprised if anything changes from where it is right now... Washington... St. Louis and L.A. win divisions with the Pirates and Giants playing the wild card game. So... Nothing to see here... Everybody go back to Thought Number Three. 5. Clumps of Women -- With no Twins baseball... My wife and I went out with Friends of ours. There were 4 couples total and I couldn't help but notice that the ladies all went to the bathroom at the same time. It's Ok... They can all synchronize bodily functions if that's the way it is but I just wanted to say that it was hard not to notice. After the third time... That all the women got up in unison. I said to the guys... "What with this Clumps of Women going to the bathroom collectively?" None of us had an answer and when they came back... I made the unfortunate innocent comment... "You ladies are all clumpy"... I wasn't able to finish by adding "when you go to the bathroom together". It seems the "You ladies are all clumpy" was all that was needed to take the air out of the room immediately.
  5. I could live with that too. And while a little longer for me, Chattanooga is still a doable drive. Just not there and back in the same day.
  6. He can't. Now go to your room!
  7. Yeah, but I still said it loudest.
  8. Okay, SSO1 said it first, but I said it louder.
  9. Ugh. I'm not sure I can watch.
  10. I really don't like Hunter. Never was a favorite of mine.
  11. You know, Brian. Hell does freeze over. It's called North Dakota.
  12. Geez, that Mauer is just so awful! Take that, Mauer haters.
  13. If it's spelled like the city, that's how it's spelled.
  14. Brian, spell after me ... A L B U Q U E R Q U E
  15. Yeah, no kidding. I mean, he should've been able to make that go one inch farther for the home run.
  16. Heh, Arcia cracks me up
  17. LOL because that deserved more than a like
  18. Weren't the Twins in Chattanooga before? Or maybe I'm not thinking right.
  19. If you can photoshop the Mad Magazine kid into that, yup, pretty much.
  20. Game-time forecast: Clear. Winds blowing in from right field at 5-10 m.p.h. Temperature around 60. TIGERS: SP, Price Kinsler 2B Hunter RF Cabrera 1B Martinez (Victor) DH Martinez (J.D.) LF Castellanos 3B Holaday C Romine SS Davis CF TWINS: SP, Gibson Santana CF Dozier 2B Mauer 1B Vargas DH Plouffe 3B Suzuki C Nunez SS Hicks RF Schafer LF ----------------------------------------------- Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's Brian! ----------------------------------------------- Thank You Ed!!! Things to Think About: 1. Spoiler -- The Twins did a little spoiling last night and the Stupid Royals failed to take advantage of it. Now the Twins gotta do it again... I hope the Stupid Royals are able to take advantage of it this time. 2. Where did the time go -- There are just 11 games left... It seems like it was just a couple of days ago when the Twins were out of the race in July. 3. Josmil Pinto -- Everyday someone comments how Josmil Pinto is not in the lineup and once again tonight... He is not in the lineup. I know this won't stop the comments but it's pretty clear that Gardy takes the integrity of a pennant chase seriously... and truth be told... I'm a fan of integrity. When facing a team in contention... Gardy is going to put what he thinks is the best lineup on the field and I respect that. He thinks he owes to the teams competing and I think he's right. Now... It can certainly be debated if Suzuki or Pinto should be part of the best lineup but it's pretty clear that Gardy thinks Suzuki is part of that best lineup and that is why he's playing and Pinto is getting splinters in his butt. Over in Philadelphia... Hot 3B Prospect... Maikel Franco is also spending more time on the bench then on the field. Just pointing out that Gardy isn't the only one. 4. CERA -- Catcher's ERA is far from a perfect stat and like most stats... They need to be applied and even implied with a grain of salt. However... myself... I've always been intrigued by the stat because it's at least something that can be used to quantify the game calling ability of the catcher. Again... It's not perfect... There are too many factors that will taint the stat especially when you consider that the pitcher probably plays a much larger role so the catcher is kinda along for the ride. With all of that... As a disclaimer. Suzuki has a CERA of 4.55 and Pinto has a CERA of 4.96. Mauer was 4.06 in 2013. I'm not implying anything at all.. Just throwing it out there because it's late in the year and coming up with 5 thoughts about the Twins is harder every day. 5. Hair -- I ran into a friend from School... Someone I haven't seen in years. I didn't recognize him but he recognized me. It's not totally my fault... He's balding and has lost most of his hair. He used to have long 80's Rock Band Hair so it was quite the change and I couldn't help it... I asked him... "What Happened to your hair?" He said "It's gone but it's coming in strong now on my back... and in my ears". I laughed and he finished with "Yep... I'm losing the hair on my head but my back is in puberty".
