Too many dislike Correa for this reason. But this is a budgeting issue up to the owner. Correa shouldn’t be blamed for this. (And I know you aren’t doing that.) At the time he signed, we all thought the budget was finally on an upswing and more competitive. It’s not Correa’s job … nor should he … to decide to take less because the owner pulled the rug out from under everyone. Heck, I don’t even blame the FO for this. They signed him when they had more and when they thought they would be working with more. And now they have to figure that into their budget and we can’t put better players around Correa.
As for the question are the Mets or Giants sorry they didn’t sign him? Doubtful. At the end of his contract we will see if they were right or wrong to pass, but doubtful they’re sorry about it. Can’t run a business always second guessing yourself.
i am happy we signed him, though. He is a joy to watch on the field and in the batter’s box. And when games aren’t good, Correa still gives us something fun to watch. He’s a great shortstop, something the Twins haven’t had in a very long time.
