  1. EXACTLY. There won’t be consequences. They’ll play the DH tomorrow and no big deal. The players will feel like they did something, the ownership will look good for not disciplining, and everyone wins. Now had you or I told our boss we weren’t coming in to work, and not using time off, what would the response be?
  2. You mention the fans not being at the games and when I saw the various teams choosing not to play, I wonder how this would have been received by management, in a normal season where fans were allowed into games. I’m going to go ahead and assume it wouldn’t have been met as well as it seems to have been by the ownership. The players don’t lose pay, they don’t lose a game. Not real sure what the sacrifice is here
  3. This does not look or feel like a 20-12 team. Have only scored >5 runs a total of 5 times in August, SP’s unable to complete 6 innings, asking too much out of the bullpen on a nightly basis. Injuries. Cleveland and Chicago are not going away. This could be a third place finish. And it IS still important for seeding purposes even in this crazy playoff year. The soft as baby poo schedule has masked many issues.
  4. imagine being in a coma since the 80's and waking up to find out that 5 IP from a starter is now the accepted norm.
  5. Worried about the pitching staff, especially the rotation. Way too many question marks. It would be one thing if someone like berrios could be counted on to give a solid start every time out. But if he’s going to be shaky and odorizzi/Hill/bailey are going to be iffy with injuries, I don’t know. I don’t trust dobnak’s stuff long term.
  6. Probably. But the Astros haven’t exactly crushed tampa pitching. 6-2 and currently 3-0. When the twins gave up a 7 run 3rd inning, that was it. I would like to see what the team could do when the game isn’t out of reach. But, pitching.
  7. Didn’t they always used to open on the West Coast?
  8. Off the top of my head I can only think of two big games in the last month or so where the team trailed late and came back to win. One was the Sunday vs Oakland when they came back in the 9th to win, but that was after they allowed 4 runs in the final innings to fall behind. The other was the first game after the break in Cleveland where they trailed in the 7th and got a few clutch hits to win. The come from ahead losses have been more frequent. A few when we just needed one more strike to win. The one game in the Oakland series and the one Yankees game. Both needed just one more out/strike. Then the inexplicable Miami loss. I’ll throw the late implosion against the Mets in there too. And then today, a great comback but couldn’t finish it. Every one of those 5 coulda shoulda been wins. Tough to give those away when the Indians never lose.
  9. Lead about to drop to 2 games. Amazing after the high of monday’s win combined with the Indians loss that night. Last night was the matchup the twins needed to win. Today was never going to work with Perez pitching and kepler/arraez not in the lineup. What was our win probability before the game? 15%?
  10. Since the twins won 6 games in a row from May 20-26, they’ve had two win streaks of 3 games and now one losing streak of 3 games. Otherwise, they’ve been alternating wins and losses at a one or two game pace. 22-20 in that time frame. Getting real close to two months of barely .500 ball. Not just a bad game or two anymore. Lead down to 4 games.
  11. Honestly, I worried about the team getting the big early lead and coasting through the later months of the year. I didn’t expect Cleveland to turn things around like this, and I thought if they did the twins would respond accordingly. Hasn’t happened so far. Been sort a sleep walk for a month and a half now and there’s a real danger they’ll fall out of first. I don’t think that’s just pessimistic at this point. It’s clearly possible. And I don’t believe the team can possibly sign/trade for as many parts as they need. None of the starters, while good at times, have been dominant recently, and we know what we have with the bullpen which is basically Rogers and maybe one other guy. No way can/will the ownership be able to get as much as they need. Conservatively, they need 2 relievers and a starter. But really like 3 relievers and 2 starters. It ain’t happening.
  12. Just 2 or 3 more wins against these below .500 teams would have honestly changed so much. 17 games since June 1, 9-8 record. Conversely, the Indians have played 23 such games in that same period and have gone 18-5. Take care of your own business and there wouldn’t be a problem.
  13. As of late, yeah. How many guys outside TR do you trust in a postseason series if we get 5 or less out of the starter? One maybe? Surely no more than two.
  14. 14 IP from the starters in 3 games ain’t gonna cut it in October. Not with this bullpen. Amazing they won 2/3 gettin 12 IP from the pen. That can be masked when we hit 3+ HRs a game but not when we struggle with RISP.
  15. Bunting with the league leader in BA is bad karma, whoever called for it.
  16. I’m about to go golfing, I think tobacco is frowned upon there too. We’re persecuted I tell ya!
  17. I personally wouldn’t do it at a game if I were sitting next to someone for that very reason. But I’m not going to get someone removed or make a complaint if somebody was doing something that had no affect on my health or well being.
  18. It’s not that I didn’t want to hear your answer, I just think you’re full of baloney. No hard feelings, were all twins fans here.
  19. I just think it’s disingenuos to prefer sitting next to a guy who’s acting so obnoxiously he gets removed from a game, rather than someone spitting in to a cup.
  20. Actually is was developed by players who didn’t want to chew tobacco but wanted to chew something. It’s similar to how candy cigarettes used to be available to kids. I gotta believe that affects more kids than what grown ballplayers are doing.
