2016 Roster Projections: The Outfielders (Part 1)
BoomBoom replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
As good as Arcia was in his productive MLB season - He never hit for the power that ABW has shown in his short career. ABW is a much better 4th OF option than Arcia. Better range defensively and more productive career. By accident he can hit for more power than the pinch hitters did for the Twins last year. Throw in some 4th OF appearances and ABW will hit better than any 4th OF option they had last season. His accidents would out perform last years numbers by a pinch hitter or 4th outfielder. This way you don't waste the limited reps on a Kepler who is more of an everyday option (when time comes) anyways.- 74 replies

2016 Roster Projections: The Outfielders (Part 1)
BoomBoom replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Not trying to make a huge issue here, but I think you take for granted the cultural adjustment African American players (ex. Hicks) have to make in the game of professional baseball. Many people think that it should be an easier transition for African Americans because they are from the USA, but on every team in baseball, they are the minority. Just saying - food for thought............... 80% of the people on Kepler's team look like him. Kepler also speaks fluent English. 7% of the Twins last year (with expanded roster) looked like Hicks. In 2014 Hicks was the only African American on the expanded roster. Was it really an easier path for Hicks than for Kepler? Most people think more about the transitions for Latino and International players in professional baseball compared to the true minority of the game (African Americans). This is obviously another thread topic, but I wanted bloggers to think about their comments as it pertained to past and future roster moves in the Twins organization. Not just Black and White all the time (pun intended) in regards to who has the easier cultural transition. Seeing people who reflect your own image once and a while goes a long way in confidence and development.- 74 replies

Glad to see they have ABW II with production numbers that are consistent with his past performances. Can't wait to see how Brunansky helps in his 2nd year projections (2017). Would be his first repeated level since college. Fantasy Sleeper http://dynastysportsempire.com/the-empires-2015-southern-league-player-of-the-year-adam-brett-walker-ii/

Baseball America's Top 10 Twins Prospects
BoomBoom replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
I get this is based on projection, but how does the only player in the Twins system to be voted an organizational All Star in each of the last 3 years, not make the Top 10. He is also the only player to be voted a mid season and post season All Star by league managers in each of the last 3 seasons. He has played more games than any player in the system over the last 3 years (durable). He has won 4 championships in 4 years. Has been voted or talked about in league MVP voting in each of the last 3 years. Among the league leaders in runs scored every year despite the low contact rate. And bats 7th. But only the strike outs are projected as sustainable? At least Fangraph still has him producing runs in their projections. -
Baseball America's Top 10 Twins Prospects

The rest of the guys get their share of doubles, triples, and runs too. These guys put themselves in scoring position by themselves. Who needs small ball - Lol

I like judging speed based on guys scoring from 1st on doubles. Some guys use short power steps and other guys have long graceful strides yet cover ground quickly. Having seen Buxton, Kepler and Walker last year, they have long graceful strides and can cover some ground in a hurry.

Q&A With Twins Outfield Prospect Adam Brett Walker
BoomBoom replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I agree with you 100%, but remind you that Trout won the MVP while leading the league in strikeouts in 2014. I just want that great production he puts out consistently every year. 33 HRs / per 162 & 123 RBI / per 162 (professional averages). OK - I want less Ks too. -

Five Hitters Deserving Of Your Attention
BoomBoom replied to Parker Hageman's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I agree. The only levels ABW II has theoretically repeated were his 2nd and 3rd year of college. He struck out at a 33% rate as a Freshmen year (still a freshmen all american) - 22% rate as a Sophomore year (.409 BA / .486 OBP / 2nd team All American) - 19% as a Junior (1.62 K / BB rate - draft year). Just hope he gets a chance to repeat at the MLB level someday. 4 Championships in 3 1/2 years. We can use some of that ___________. Side Note: In his minor league career - ABW II has 16 doubles and 18 home runs against MLB Top 20 prospects (388 ABs) with a 28% K rate and 8.8% BB rate. 12 of those 18 home runs are off guys who are currently on MLB rosters. Twins Continue To Add Outfield Depth
BoomBoom replied to Parker Hageman's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The Twins I believe had 2 extra base hits on the entire season last year from Pinch Hitters. The worst recorded pinch hitting season in Twins history (statistical fact). My 4th outfielder would have to have more impact on the bat end rather than the defensive end for me. I'd rather see an Arcia or Walker as my 4th outfielder simply for the potential to change a game with 1 swing. Walker averages 31 doubles and 34 home runs on average (162 game season) in his minor league career. At his worst - he still does better than whomever the Twins had last year. These recent signings don't do it for me if we are talking 4th outfielder. With Arcia or Walker you don't have to worry about 200 strikeouts (haha) and they get daily lessons from Brunansky in hitting drills. Guaranteed to catch more than 2 XBH on the year. -
I was thinking of how the Twins could score every game and I thought of a MONSTER MASH line up. First we would have to make a trade or 2 to align the pieces correctly: Trade (1) : Milone and Nolasco and Escobar for Javier Baez (SS) and Corey Black (P). Even if you have to eat some contract money. Trade (2): ________ & _______ for Javier Baez (SS) / Cubs The move clears the way for Rogers or Berrios or Free Agent sign 1) Buxton (10 HRS) 2) Mauer (6 HRS) 3) Dozier (25 HRS) 4) Sano (35 HRS) 5) Plouffe (27 HRS) 6) Park (30 HRS) 7) Baez (30 HRS) 8) Rosario (20 HRS) 9) Murphy / Suzuki (7 HRS) That's 190 HRS not counting non starter HRS. (Arcia / Nunez / etc.) Lots of K's but guaranteed to score at least one run per game. Who likes it and who doesn't? Cubs are shipping Baez, so why not get younger and more powerful in the lineup.

Twins' 2016 ROY Candidates
BoomBoom replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I know everyone thinks I'm crazy, but............. If you take the average stat line from all our prospects over the last 3 years and expect some sort of carry over to the MLB level - Why not ABW II? Just saying: Strikes outs and all - he is the only prospect to average 109 RBI every year and 28 HRs. Even if he made a MLB record in strike outs - If he averaged his consistent / normal yearly numbers - You would have your 2016 ROY - Nobody has been more durable and / or consistent in the last 3 years (Good and Bad). NOBODY We have all assumed that it will eventually catch up to him - but what if it doesn't? Would his normal numbers get you the ROY?- 9 replies

Is Adam Walker UNDERrated, or OVERrated?
BoomBoom replied to jsteve96's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
I believe ABW II is getting traded - There is no place for him in the outfield as it currently plays out and they just paid for a new millionaire DH for the next few years. Despite a possible springboard AFL season. Would be a bad move IMO -

Good spring board league according to Mayo. I sure hope Walker gets a chance to take that leap this year. -
Is Adam Walker UNDERrated, or OVERrated?
BoomBoom replied to jsteve96's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Because he has stolen 36 out of 45 bases (80% success rate) as a professional and still gets down played for his athletic ability at times - I say underrated. 65% as a minor leaguer - Eddie Rosario 77% as a minor leaguer - Byron Buxton 83% as a minor leaguer - Max Kepler ABW is a better athlete than given credit for IMO. He scores from 1st base routinely on doubles down the line. -

Is Adam Walker UNDERrated, or OVERrated?
BoomBoom replied to jsteve96's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
It's crazy, because he seldom looks like he over swings. His swing looks slow half the time but when he hits it - It doesn't look or sound like other hitters. -
Is Adam Walker UNDERrated, or OVERrated?
BoomBoom replied to jsteve96's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Not a bad comparison, but you also can't find many other comparisons who have led their leagues in HRs and RBI and Total Bases and Extra Base Hits for 3 consecutive years either - Who failed? I'm hopeful along with you.
