  1. This is what the corner looks like. The one the team is turning.
  2. Yep. The more less important outs you get, the fewer more important outs there are.
  3. I agree with this. It's not just getting batters out it's when you get them out. It's very much analogous to BA with RISP. Edited to add: I'm not a stat-head and I'm sure this can be modified to be more representative of a reliever's performance, for example using win-probs, but the concept remains the same. It's more important to get the more important outs and less important to get the less important outs.
  4. I think I remember hearing that John Gordon gave him that nickname when they became a broadcasting team.
  5. One of the things that made him an inhuman freak was stuff that was not derived from a human. (Allegedly.)
  6. Adding this: http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseball/25282791/look-miguel-sano-loses-monster-homer-to-tropicana-field-catwalk
  7. On the way home from work I had 96.3 on the radio and Kris Atteberry said that the Twins will be stretching Tonkin out to be the long man. I guess he'd be the one they'd choose for that role by default even though I'm not sure he has the pitches for that. Usually you'd like the long man to be the one who would have been the 6th starter.
  8. It's now official. Phil Miller reports on the Strib website that Duffey has been optioned and that Nolasco will fill the #5 starter role.
  9. I'll say 10 MVP awards in his first 10 full seasons! (It's still ST so I'm allowed to be optimistic!)
  10. What happened to the negativity police officer???? Did the Yankees sign him away as a free agent or something?
  11. Concur. I think it's very possible that the AL could have a dozen teams at 81+ wins. With few if any dominant teams the pennant race could become a real mess. And that's a good thing.
  12. Love the cream-colored pinstripes but not the ugly script on the front. Put the current logo on there and that's the go-to home uni. The M hat is a nice sidelight of team history but I've always preferred the TC.
  13. There was also this guy who wore #25 in 2010...
  14. As Chief said, I believe they'll start the season with 12 pitchers. That means this was the very end for position players.
  15. Out of 81 posts (counting the OP and not counting this one) only one referenced Mauer's salary. Since his salary is irrelevant to this discussion I had hoped it would have been zero, but I guess I should be happy it was only one. Had this been the Strib comment board it would have been about every other post.
  16. It's easy for this Twins fan to envision Rosario, Buxton, Arcia and Kepler continuing to improve. Those four could become the best outfield in the majors for quite a few years.
  17. There was one other very noteworthy player. Google images of Hack Wilson. (Listed at 5'6", 190 lbs.)
  18. I still say the needs of Buxton outweigh the needs of the 2016 major league team. If TR and PM feel that AAA is what's best for his development then the Twins can use one of their other players as a placeholder in the meantime.
