  1. Fitting that Buck breaks up the perfecto.
  2. I'm not sure it's not. Is Vargas, Park or Kepler actually better, right now?
  3. I thought you said you were going to focus on one at-bat, not over 6,000.
  4. I agree strike 3 yesterday was too close to take. Mauer was right that it was almost certainly out of the zone but until umpires improve their strike-calling capability to the level of computerized systems you have to swing at that pitch. But there is no way should Mauer be taken out of the lineup. He's still certainly one of the nine best players in our system. If you are going to focus everything on just one at-bat you could just as well focus on the at-bat in Friday's ninth inning. Just as valid (or invalid).
  5. I'll say that my opinion differs from yours and we should probably agree to disagree. My opinion is that one, Mauer is still a good major league player and, two, I think the front office has the latitude to pay whatever salary to whatever player (including free agents) that they deem necessary and appropriate. I don't think they have a self-imposed salary cap.
  6. I'm glad that this discussion had only minimal mention of $23M, but it should have received no mention because it's irrelevant.
  7. Pop-up to center field...ten feet in front of the warning track. If a Twin hit that Dick would have said it was a drive to deep center.
  8. Just got access to the TV. So the Twins are wearing Red jerseys and the Red Sox are wearing navy. Makes sense. NOT.
  9. It's debatable, but the side of the debate in favor of Bloedow's will win.
  10. Now we know there was something in the pregame meal. Hope they don't all get tested for PED's tonight.
  11. Too bad about the CS before that bomb!
  12. Quoting myself because I'm very important in my own mind. Actually I had another Philadelphia A's thing. In about 2000 the Twins and Athletics had one of those throwback uniform days at the dome. I think the Twins wore Senators unis from about 1925 and the A's of course wore the Philadephia unis. The big problems was that Art Howe wore a uniform, and if he were completely true to the concept he would have dressed like this: https://www.google.com/search?q=Connie+Mack+suit&safe=active&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjrqOuHzNLTAhUq7YMKHYRvB3QQ_AUICygC&biw=1440&bih=775#imgrc=8d3uOXrsMsxWxM:
  13. Don't like the A's on the Oakland caps. Should be just A, like back when they were in Philadelphia.
  14. Good use of the anti-jinx! (Courtesy Eddie Rosario.)
  15. Not the worst hitter tonight. Mollie's a genius. Or a lucky guesser.
  16. That's big boy territory right there.
  17. I prefer to refer to the man who moved the North Stars to Dallas as "he who must not be named".
