  1. If they will eat $12 million/year so we pay him $20, I would do it.
  2. There's now way the Mets take that deal. I'd substitute Belezovic for Blankenship. Even then, I doubt they take it.
  3. The Twins love him and want him bad. But only for 3 years. A 4th year is a deal-breaker. Sorry.
  4. The top income tax rate in Minnesota is 9.85%, which it's been for years. That's only "sky high" compared the 6 states that have none. And this "Off-season of Twins excuses" is the first time I've ever heard anyone bring it up regarding MN teams and FA.
  5. I've been accused of having a Canadian accent in the South. I've also encountered someone who thought Minnesota and Wisconsin were really just one state. But actually thinking Minnesota is part of Canada? No.
  6. Playing in -30 degrees half the year and in an ugly Dome the other half? Who would sign up for that? They'd have to pay MadBaum $60 million/year and give him a private jet for his horses.
  7. I like it. Just not as our 2nd biggest move of the off-season.
  8. It's much worse than I realized. A frozen ice sheet with eskimos that most think is not even in the US (even though they've played here on the road and we have teams in every pro sport). I think contraction needs to be put back on the table.
  9. I'm tired of the "no one will come to MN" excuse. You could have had Keuchel with a competitive offer in June. You could probably have him now. You could have traded for Stroman or Minor at the deadline. All of these will probably require you to over-pay. Tough. Do it. Or admit that we can't ever compete and trade everyone within 2 years of FA.
  10. Lol. If they can't beat 5/$85 for MadBaum there is zero chance they were ever serious about Donaldson.
  11. We were told this regime was different. They would be aggressive when the window was open. Then they did little to supplement a clear play-off team at the deadline, refusing to part with ANY top 15 prospects and now they've sat by as the pitching they need goes elsewhere. We were duped again.
  12. When is the last time the Twins made a major move at the Winter Meetings?
  13. Price averaged 5 innings per start last year. Unless Boston is eating 2/3 of that contract, no thanks.
  14. I get that. I don't think we have to add any of our top 4 prospects to make it happen though. Maybe Rosario, the #3 pitcher and one more guy?
  15. I'm intrigued by Eddie for Alcantara from the Marlins, but I would have done that instead of signing Pineda. A rotation of Berrios, Odorizzi, Alcantara and Pineda doesn't do it for me in a play-off series.
  16. Over the long-term, you're right. In this particular off-season, the Twins positioned themselves to be able to compete with the big boys and upgrade their pitching. They promised to do so. So far, they have failed. And their options are dwindling. If they come up empty, it's on Falvine and not MLB's system.
  17. Doogie heard they called the hotel to book a room but they couldn't work it out, despite a generous offer.
  18. What were Baumgarner's demands? I still think there is a decent gap between him and Kuechel.
  19. If you can really get Didi Gregorius for $15 million, sign me up for him and MadBaum at $21 million. If that is over the cap, trade Rosario to free up $ for one more RP.
  20. Even if it means getting neither? If it takes 5/$100 to get MadBaum, so be it. We don't have many (any) better options.
  21. I'm not forgetting so much as I would have him penciled into the bullpen. But I suppose he is an option for the rotation as well. As for Graterol, I assume they will not even consider putting him on the Opening Day roster so as not to burn a year of service time. He will be an option around the All-Star break.
  22. Meh. Either him or Castro for $4 million is fine I guess. I personally had no issue with Astudillo being the back-up catcher. No one bothers to steal anymore, give me the better hitter.
  23. If Dobnak is the 4th/5th starter, I'm comfortable with Smeltzer making the 6 starts that would be needed for the 5th spot in the first 39 games. Or vice versa depending on who wins the 5th job in ST.
