  1. Potentially it is. If we continue to get the Gray from July, it might be a push. I'm not a fan of trading Gray as I don't think the haul will be that massive. But I hate to lose Kuechel for nothing and see him go 5-0 with a 3.00 ERA somewhere else too.
  2. My only real hope for this season is for Derek Falvey and Rocco to be fired by November 1st.
  3. Max is bad, has limited to no upside and will not be here next year. Buxton has significant upside if he gets hot and will be here for 5 more years. It's not even a close call who should go out the door first.
  4. Reusse mentioned on a podcast that Tony Oliva had a meeting with a player or two recently. I think Buxton for sure. I doubt he's up for any formal role but a new voice with him around to supplement couldn't hurt.
  5. He's hitting a bit the last week. Now is not the time, especially when there are far more worthy candidates ahead of him like Kepler and Gallo.
  6. Sending AK down while keeping Kepler and Gallo on the roster would be ridiculous. Neither provide anything outside of some decent defense on Gallo's part, but it's not worth the complete black hole in the line-up. You can't just IL Buxton because you're mad at him. He's not hurt. He doesn't need to play every day if he's not hitting. I don't care whether Larnach or Miranda "earned" a call-up. At least they're young and might improve. Gallo and Kepler are what they are. And Miranda's been hitting well lately.
  7. Buxton's as healthy as he's going to get and unless AK is hurt, there's no reason to send him down. Fire Rocco and Popkins. DFA Kepler and Gallo. Get Wallner and one of Larnach or Miranda up here.
  8. Same. Not wasting time or $$ on this garbage team right now. At this point, the only positive that can come out of the season is tanking bad enough that Joe Pohlad and company actually take action on this incompetent regime.
  9. If he can't play CF, put him back on the IL until he can. He's not doing anyone any good as a DH right now.
  10. Sometime change for the sake of change is a good thing. I know people are tired of hearing it, but someone on the staff should lose their job over this lifeless, sad team.
  11. He might not be the long-term answer but he's the most logical internal candidate for the rest of the season.
  12. Make some moves and shake it up. Out: Falvey, Rocco, Kepler, Castro, Pagan, J Lopez (IL) In: Levine, Toby G, Larnach, Wallner, Funderburk, Maeda
  13. Fire Falvey, Rocco and the hitting coach. See if Thad Levine, Toby Gardenhire, and a new hitting coach can light a fire in this lifeless group. If not, sell everyone that won't contribute in 2025. As for the roster, get Garlick and Kepler off this team and get Wallner and Julien up ASAP.
  14. Bad trade the day it was made. Worse trade now. Lopez is a commodity. A meh RH starting pitcher. Arreaz is not.
  15. It's not exactly a huge blow.
  16. He was terrible his last year in SD too. He had one good year in Tampa about 4 years ago. That's it. The guy is simply not good and there's no justification for him to remain on the roster.
  17. If he was still a minimum salary player, maybe you could justify bringing him back. Bringing back one of the worst relievers in the league for $4 million? That was never justifiable. Not non-tendering him was a joke, but they did it because their ego wouldn't let Falvey admit he made a horrible trade and move on.
  18. Fire the hitting coach. Demote Miranda. Get Julien and Farmer up ASAP. Invent an injury for Gallo. Do SOMETHING please.
  19. This. Lopez is fine and maybe on a trade value chart, it was a good trade. But Lopez isn't any different than Sonny Gray or Joe Ryan. A solid #2 starter. Arreaz is not nearly as easily replaced. And it shows.
  20. Chickens coming home to roost for Falvey. Arrogantly keeping Pagan and not adding anyone else to the bullpen. Trading the batting champion off an already weak offense. And Rocco continues to get out-managed on a regular basis.
  21. Polanco should lead off once he comes back. Until then, a platoon of Gordon/Farmer/Solano would be better than Kepler.
  22. How much say does Rocco even have? It feels like it's often decided at 2:00 that afternoon whether the starter will be allowed to face the order a 3rd time by Favley and his analytics gurus and Rocco does what he's told.
  23. This front office's irrational hubris in keeping Pagan continues to pay off. I get having one bullpen spot designated to be a revolving door, but there's no reason to keep Pagan AND Sands over Columbe.
  24. Victory Sports was 20 years ago and flopped. They don't own any stake in BSN and as far as I know, they never owned any stake in Fox Sports North. Certainly they could have manipulated things a tad on the radio side by giving their stations a cheap deal, but that's also been over for years, and radio rights are a drop in the bucket of overall revenue anyway.
  25. I'm not sure what depreciation or how much they draw in equity has to do with the accuracy of this estimate. Depreciation is a legitimate operating expense, as they did contribute more than $100 million towards the stadium and still pay rent for it on top of it.
