  1. It's why you don't trade the closer on Opening Day. There's no moves left to make at that point. I don't hate that trade in December but I hate it when it under the circumstances.
  2. Great win. But this team needs a closer. The Rogers trade nearly bit us for the 3rd time in 2 weeks.
  3. I'm not calling for it yet. I'm asking how long we give him. If he needs until June to start hitting again, I'm not interested.
  4. 3rd base coach owns two mistakes. Should have sent Arreaz in the 1st. Should never have sent Sano. One downside of batting Buxton 1st is that even when there's guys on for him, they are running with bears on their back. Also, how long is Sano's leash? Another brutal start. At some point it's just time to cut bait.
  5. Yes, I'll include my closer for a pitcher in A ball. We're in win now mode!
  6. This trade might have made sense in December. But saying you're contending and then trading your closer the day before opening day for a non-sure thing starter is just bizarre and does not help you in 2022 even if it's a good trade long-term. If they're trying to win in 2022, this is foolish. If they're not trying to win in 2022, fine, but then WTF were the last 3 weeks about.
  7. Trading Rogers while claiming you're trying to make the play-offs is a joke. This bullpen is marginal as it is.
  8. Skimming his baseball reference #'s, it's not that inspiring though he had a huge ERA/FIP gap last year. Is there something more there? Also, who exits the rotation or do we go 6 starters until someone pitches their way out of it?
  9. Cave is making the team. And he's playing at least twice/week. He's Rocco's Nick Punto. Book it.
  10. I feel like at least one of Minaya/Coulombe will make the bullpen. I know their stuff doesn't excite anyone but they were both solid last year and have been in Spring so far this year last I checked.
  11. I prefer Arreaz 3B/DH Polanco 2B Buxton CF Correa SS Kierloff LF Sano 1B Kepler RF Urshela/Sanchez 3B/DH Jeffers/Sanchez C
  12. I have no issue with this as long as the leash is short enough. I give him and Bundy both 5 starts. If the ERA is over 5.50 at that point you're cut. Period.
  13. I assumed this was about new chicken tenders at Target Field.
  14. Also, now they pretty much have to give Oakland whatever they want for Montas, otherwise, what's the point of all this?
  15. Happy to be wrong and very surprised Correa agreed to such a short-term deal. I figured he was looking at 5/$150 at an absolute minimum.
  16. They'll sign Pineda or Cueto. That's it. They're done. The payroll will be less than $100 million and they'll finish last. There's no excuse for it. Either fire Falvey or sell the team, Jim. Preferably both.
  17. I have a huge issue with not even trying in 2022. Especially if there are going to be 12 or 14 play-off teams. This offense is good enough to get a play-off spot and you are wasting a prime year of Buxton, Polanco etc. and the last year of Donaldson. The unwillingness of the front office to be aggressive in pursuit of pitching is maddening.
  18. Keeping Cave is a joke. The day Falvey is gone can't come soon enough.
  19. I'm guessing he's still insurable it just costs more.
  20. I know many bemoaned the Mauer contract. I never did. They had to sign him. They had no choice. They could not let him walk one year after Target Field opened. But they are closer to the same reality now with Buxton then they realize. Let him walk and you alienate a lot of your hard core fans. You already have terrible attendance last year and terrible TV ratings. The lockout will alienate them further unless it's resolved quickly. If you're trading Buxton and going back to a cheap rebuild, I'm out. I don't think I'm alone. The Twins will be relegated to Wolves territory for me. I will spend $0 on you and wake me when you make the play-offs. Until then., I don't care.
  21. If the options are sign Buxton for 7/$100 million (or even 5/$100) or trade him for the return we got for Berrios, I'll take Buxton any day and it's not close.
  22. Getting the Berrios return when you could have Buxton for what is being reports is still a terrible decision.
  23. Exactly this. Not only do they have $0 committed past 2023, but who are they going to keep who's expensive. Donaldson will be gone. Sano will be gone. Maeda will be gone. Kepler will be gone. Maybe they keep Polanco. But who else is going to be expensive in 2024, 2025, 2026? MAYBE Kiriloff and Joe Ryan if we're lucky. Even if we're going to truck along at $120 million payrolls, which is lower than it should be, we STILL can easily afford Buxton.
  24. Then Falvey is incompetent and should be fired immediately. It makes no sense that he will give Josh Donaldson $23 million/year and balk at giving Buxton $15 much less $20.
  25. If the reported #'s are even within 50% accurate there is ZERO reason not to have the extension done already. The only answer is the Falvey is too arrogant/incompetent to finish a slam dunk or Pohlad is squeezing the purse strings super tight and they're planning to have a $70 million payroll. The former is far more likely the case. This is beyond frustrating. It's disgusting. Enough to be done with this team until either Falvey, the Pohlads or both are gone.
