  1. Say, I did notice that Phil didn't give the lead back right away in the 2nd. Progress? (Although I maybe shouldn't say that til he gets out of the 3rd...)
  2. True, but I wouldn't expect them to. Beresford, in particular, deserves to have a shot- he's been a solid, and consistently improving player with a ton of AAA games under his belt- he could surely spell BD during a trip to Rochester to figure things out. And Polanco could stay down and play every day, cuz Molly surely isn't going to let him do that up here. That's my solution right now- send BD down, bring up Beresford, and keep riding that wave until either one of them hits his way back in the other direction.
  3. We have 2 guys in Roch who can play 2nd- Beresford and Polanco, who are in the .380s in OBP, but somehow, our #3 hitter who's having a nightmare of a year, doesn't sit, or get moved down in the order, or get optioned to get down and help himself get right. They just don't get it. Pfft. Ryan and Molly both need to go.
  4. That's why I still have some faith in the guy. He was able to battle his way to the majors, and even succeed for a time. But the guys who keep on succeeding have to keep making the same kinds of adjustments over time. It seems like he made his one and only tweak, hit the heck out of the ball, then the pitchers adjusted, and now he seems like he's not even trying to make a counter-move. Then add to that, a manager who keeps plugging him in to crucial lineup spots, and there you go. Another ingredient in this ridiculous Klown Kar of a season.
  5. Heh... although "execute" in a slightly different context might still be apropos.
  6. I'm going backwards through the comments, and I don't even want to look at the lineup. That is maybe reason #1 for a change in mangler. Uh, manager. And I'm not even going to get into reasons 1A, 1B, 1C, etc.....
  7. Hey might be one of those guys who gets to walk the line, but receives a blank sheet of paper. "hey, what gives?"
  8. One would hope that face-plant in the photo is not said youngest son. But if it is, he really stuck that landing!
  9. Yeh, I noticed that too. Not a lotta hittin' going on down there in the Fort, eh?
  10. I, too, thought Molly would be more progressive. Good term. Especially since he spent time tutoring the guys down there- thought he would have made some kind of connection. But I agree, his handling of the youngsters has just been appalling. I can not forgive him for gacking up the Alex Meyer Experience this year. He basically took it upon his shoulders to ruin the guy's year. And how many times has a guy been brought up, only to sit interminably, and then be thrust into a situation like Kepler, where he gets tossed in against a lefty, first game? WTF is going on in that dugout? Certainly not something that bodes well for the Twins future. And since the Twins present is already in the toilet and swirling, he needs to go. Like yesterday.
  11. Fortunately, his fielding hasn't taken the hit ( heh- "hit") that his offense has. But for the love of God, Molly, get him out of the top 3 spots in the lineup!!!! Dude- the pitchers have you figured out. Now your job is to re-figure that figuring out and find a way to counter it. I don't even care anymore what the issue is, or what the excuse is. Let him work it out in the 7-8-9 hole, and stop killing the few rallies we get! The occasional dinger from there would just be gravy, but stop letting Mr. Men-Dozier try to be the meat of the order. Anybody with even half a brain would have made that move long ago- Dozey in 1, or 2, or 3, and Plouffe in the cleanup spot- you're not even giving your team a chance, Mr. Manager. (Oops, I almost typed "Mangler" by mistake. Or maybe it was Freudian). This team is a complete mess right now. And continually plugging the same weary vets into the same spots in the lineup--- HELLO!!! NOT WORKING!! I apologize for the CAPS. It's late, I'm tired, and I'm in Hong Kong, so I need to shout to be heard. And I'm just sick of it.
  12. Aha! Winnah! For me, that is, I was asleep, and missed this whole mess! Oh. Um, I guess it's Chicken Breakfast-- but anyway-----------
  13. It's true, that when he got to the Red Sox, they told him to just be himself, and swing away, and not to bother about that all fields business- and look what happened.
  14. He did not suck at 1B. And he was a damn good young slugger. Yeh, he was squeezably soft, and had some injury problems, but I was looking so forward to having him in the lineup for the 2000's, and then.... Walked away for nothing. Didn't even get a bag of damn balls out of it. Yes, $ was a factor, but cripe, not an earth-shaking amount, even then. I was astounded, just flabbergasted, and so incredibly disappointed in my team when they did that. And what a gigantic mistake it was. I remember that same feeling coming back, a few years later, when, right after the Wolves selected Ricky Rubio, they had the next pick coming as well, and everybody but everybody knew it was going to be Steph Curry. But then, David Kahn, in his wisdom.... "and the T-Wolves select..... Johnny Flynn!" There isn't a typeface big enough for the WTF to grow to. I sat there with my mouth agape for like 10 minutes before I could even speak. Ortiz. Curry. Geez- Louise, what absolutely boneheaded moves those were- at the time, and certainly in retrospect. Edit: Oops, I had to amend this- I forgot about what havoc Ortiz would have wreaked with the RF baggy in the Dome. He surely would have ripped that thing more than once, hitting rockets off of it, and over it, and somebody would have had to fix it, and that costs money, so maybe it is better he went away.
  15. Welp. That's it then. All that romanticism about old-time radio and such was lost on these guys tonight. Ah, at least I got to share it with y'all. How about we get a manager who doesn't put a couple of gigantic holes in key spots in the lineup, so that every time we do have a little rally, it gets quickly squelched? And how about leaving the kid who's learning and producing out there in NY right where he is, to groove some positive freakin' nerve synapses into his noggin, and not drag him back here to save this woebegone season? And how about... oh, never mind, you're all in bed by now, and I'm well behind on that presentation for Friday assembly.
  16. So, let's see, Molly, I think maybe we'll bring in the lefty here, to pitch to a guy who's caught him his whole career in Oakland, and has seen and even called a few hundred pitches of his... What could possibly happen?
  17. Well, let's see- Gulfa walks 2, then May walks 1 more-- it's a 3+ hour game already. If I'm a Twins fielder, I'm a little perturbed about the BP around now. And probably ready for bed, instead of a rocket off the bat of Coco Crisp.
  18. Well, at least he saw a few pitches that time. Result still the same, though. Why he ain't still in Rochester, I dunno...
  19. Wow, Zuke- that was a Crisp line drive. Good on ya.
  20. What fortunate timing. Well, off to Molitor an exam. I mean, monitor. Wow, I hope I don't gack it up, now.
  21. Is off the well a ground rule double? Or is it only if the spirit inside grabs and eats the ball? (as an appetizer for your soul, I guess...)
  22. Hm. Methinks I must re-quote my re-quote. It's deja vu all over again. It's deja vu all over again. It's...
  23. Jeepers, this just looks like 2 teams desperately trying to give this game away. I wonder who wants it less?
  24. OMG, the new A's pitcher-- I'm dyin' over here!
