1. The blasted schedule said the game was not starting until 6:10, so I got the thread up way too late, and then I saw that ChiTown, got it up, so I guess I will apologize to the moderators because the schedule lied.
2. 1-Ticks--Okay, so the other day I went to a SNA in my area, and it was infested with these little parasites, and our little party collected quite a few, twelve in all, I believe was the final count. Well, anyways, when we got back in the car and headed home someone quickly found #1, and it was sentenced to a throwing out of the window, but I believe that was unconstitutional because "In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence." I can say that the trial was speedy, but the jury was not impartial, but I will now move onto the next tick; this particular creature fit the usual definition of a Wood Tick, similar to Justin Bieber or Richard Sherman, or maybe I should just say unpleasant, and received the same treatment as the last, as did the next one. The fourth tick was a Deer Tick, and was sentenced to drowning in the sewer, but I guess describing what became of these ticks is getting tiresome, but I have a few more stories to tell you. Once there was a Deer Tick that hopped on a person who was walking in the woods, and a while later a Wood Tick hopped on, and they both went crawling up to the person's head, but these two vile vermin were unaware of each other, but eventually the Deer Tick looked over it's shoulder and saw this big Wood Tick, was very impressed, and decided that this Wood Tick was it's hero. Another thing I want to tell you is that if I ever find another tick it will wish it would have never hatched. 2-Scott Boras--Last time I hosted a game thread I was talking about comparisons, and I came up with another. I believe that Scott Boras and Percival C. McCleach were a lot like each other, if you don't know who Boras or McCleach are, one was a poacher, and the other is an agent, which is a white-collared poacher. Well, I guess I better get on with it, but sometimes you have to wait for it. McCleach's slimy salamander, or in Boras' case, Alex Rodriguez had the same relationship with their agent, (or poacher, if that is how you want to put it). Here is a video of Boras and A Rod: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9U6oqFCE440 3-The Draft--I don't know what else I should write about, but the thing that I have been writing about the most is the draft, which is on June 8th, and I'm really looking forward to it. The draft is the highlight of my year, unless something really significant happens, like trading Kevin Corriea. Well, this draft has been very hard to evaluate, but I think that the biggest bummer was Kyler Murray going all Muhammad Ali and dodging the draft, and I had been hoping that the Twins would cut an underslot deal with him. But the best thing is draft night, and seeing how far off you were, or how close you were in your mocks, and then finally your team is on the clock, and they select... http://assets.nydailynews.com/polopoly_fs/1.1819143.1402020226!/img/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/article_970/baseball-draft.jpg This draft will be harder to project, but in my opinion that makes it more fun. 4-Wins--The Twins are 5 games above .500, and they are looking pretty good, and our top prospects aren't even up yet, so it will be really fun to watch them when the big names come up, but they could hit a speed bump, which I am afraid I have done with game threads, but some people on here might be delighted because the game threads will probably be shorter, but just to remind them, when a car goes over a speed bump, not just the driver, but everyone in the car gets their neck jolted, and so I am warning them that when I go over a speed bump they will too if they are on the game thread, and if their neck pains last long enough they might be headed to a chiropractor. 5-War and Peace--People have been talking about game threads becoming tributes to War and Peace, and I thought this might be nice for them:
3. Next year's international class is way better, so they may be waiting until next year to overspend their pool.
4. Thanks for the update. Nice to see some of my prospect's names on there.
5. Actually when Betances was Meyer's age he was pretty much the same.
6. http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/mlb-mock-draft-2015-version-3-0/ I don't know why they like Cameron for the Twins so much. With the players they have on the board at #6 I think it would be between Bregman, Allard, or maybe Aiken.
7. BUXTON HITS HIS TENTH TRIPLE!!!!!!!!!!!
8. You can not say that. How much have you seen Meyer? You can't say that just from seeing someone a few times, when you evaluate pitchers you have to see 20-25 innings before you can pass any judgment like that.
9. I was just thinking that they should move him to the bullpen for a brief sting, get him going, call him up to the big league club to get that off his back, and then send him back down to the Red Wings rotation. I think that might get him going.
10. http://www.gannett-cdn.com/-mm-/3f894c2d87d7cbb17f0c291318475ce0cf011b26/c=127-0-2233-1581&r=x404&c=534x401/local/-/media/Nashville/Nashville/2014/06/23/1403538632000-buehler.jpeg Walker Buehler is a 6'1", 160 pound right handed pitcher for Vanderbilt University who was drafted in the 14th round of the 2012 MLB Rule 4 draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates, but went on to pitch for the Commodores. Buehler has four pitches, a good fastball, curveball, slider and change, giving him a nice repertoire. Buehler does not put full effort into his delivery, but he has had some trouble repeating it, which has given him control issues at times. I believe that Buehler will start, and it is unlikely that a team picking him in the first round would view him as a reliever; although some people are concerned about his small size, I don't think that it should effect his path to the big leagues. His fastball is his best pitch, usually sitting 90-94, but he can get it up to 96 with ease, and puts good movement on it, his slider and curveball usually receive 50-55 grades, but some scouts say there is no clear difference between the two pitches, and instead call it a slurve, but I think that he will be able to use both a curve and slider at the next level, his changeup is considered average. I view Buehler as a high floor/low ceiling type guy, who should fit into the middle of a big league rotation, and could be on the fast track to the big leagues. The Twins are said to like Buehler, and have been watching him for quite some time, but he was set back by injuries, giving him less time to be evaluated, but personally I view Buehler as a 10-15 guy, but since he won't be around at #73 the Twins probably wouldn't hesitate to take him if the other players that are higher on their draft board are gone at #6.
11. Span would not have stuck around on the team, and the next best offer we got was J.R. Graham, and we now have both, so it isn't like we did awful in the trade, plus we have a lot of outfield depth in the minors.
12. Here is Baseball America's link: http://www.baseballamerica.com/international/norge-ruiz-cubas-best-pitching-prospect-leaves-cuba/
13. Here is a link: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/05/right-hander-norge-ruiz-leaves-cuba-will-seek-deal-with-mlb-club.html From what I have heard it sounds like he has really good potential.
14. Did you look at Juan Lagares and Mike Trout? There is no way you can go from the best to the worst in one year via stats, but scouting shows that there was no such regression. Those stats for Cain and Kiermaier were from a link that somebody sent to me on another website, but I can't remember where, and the only explanation that I could see would be that they "allowed" some runs, so that they got some knocked off.
15. I still am not convinced, sometimes there calculations for the same stat contradict each other, such as Kevin Pillar leading the Majors with 7 DRS, but then when you look at outfield it says he has 9 DRS, and other places say that Lorenzo Cain has 14 DRS and Kevin Kiermaier has 10 DRS but then others say 12 and 9. What I am trying to say is that you either saved a run or you didn't, there should be no stats contradicting each other, and another thing that I would like to point out is that someone like Juan Lagares had 28 DRS last year, but has -2 this year, but when you watch him it is obvious that he has not regressed that much, as is saying that Mike Trout went from being the best center fielder in the big leagues to well below average the next year. Defensive sabermetrics might be helpful to get an idea on who are the best defensive players, but you can't use them to evaluate a player, it just doesn't make sense.
16. This and starting pitching are the Twins strengths, and I wouldn't be surprised if we took an outfielder or pitcher in the first round.
17. I think that if Bregman is boring everybody will be boring.
18. Both I and Kiley McDaniel think that he will start.
19. Just continues to show that defensive stats are unreliable.
20. I've been trying to tell people that defensive stats go back and forth so much that they nearly come to the point of meaning nothing at times, and I also believe that DRS shouldn't be used to judge defense, because it is basically like the RBI, it is meant to measure clutch.
21. If Sanders chose Bert as his running mate my opinion of him might go up.
