    He can be brought back for next season. I wouldn't be afraid to have a quick DFA finger, as I can't imagine other teams would be salivating to pick him up from the Twins.

    That could be as early as April 2017 when that happens. Ervin's been prone to a couple of 5+ ERA pumpkin seasons. Then we're stuck with him.

    I would still look to FA and bring in 2-3 other arms to compete for a bullpen spot. I see a few on the list that I would not tender and let them go: Kintzler Boshers O' Rourke 1 or 2 of Darnell / Dean / Wheeler

    Glad to hear it. McLeod at the top with one of the younger candidates taking the GM role would be a great start to this off-season.

    I'd prefer the whole pitching staff to be as fluid as possible. Santana had a good 2016. If he turns into a pumpkin, they're stuck with his $13.5 million price tag for 2018. The Twins already have someone they're stuck with at a high price point in Hughes. There's not going to be an obvious replacement for Santana. Depends on what you value more - having Santana and potentially getting stuck with him in 2018 when the younger guys are closer to being MLB ready - OR - getting out of the contract and taking a step back in the short term.

    Pass on Kintzler. Locks would be Rogers, Chargois, Pressley. Tonkin is iffy. The strikeouts are nice, but he's also prone to give up a big inning. The expectation of IP for both Hughes and Perkins should be 0 until further notice. Hildenberger, Burdi, Melotakis, and Reed have been on our radars for a couple of years now. Maybe 2017 is the year we'll see some of these awesome RP prospects.

    If Brett Anderson could be had for a 1 year heavy incentive laden contract, I'd pull the trigger on that. Very high risk where he could be like Rich Harden/Joel Zumaya and never pitch an inning for the Twins. I guess I would also take a flyer on Mat Latos and hope to be surprised about it.

    I agree with you that the Pohlad's didn't fire TR to keep the status quo going forward. There's an issue with your plan, at least the significant FA signing... This year's list of FA SP are frightening. We're talking maybe Rich Hill being the best possible option out there, who will most likely see a 3/45 type contract. Ick. Whoever the new PBO / GM will be, they'll have to be quite creative with fixing the rotation this year. It's probably not going to look pretty when they announce the signings. But hopefully one or more becomes a Scott Feldman type to flip somewhere else for more upside. Long story short, I agree with you and hope there is an overhaul with next year's rotation.

    I know you're right, but that doesn't help the hesitancy of giving him $9-10 million next year. There may be a new regime on the way, but it's still the Pohlad's that sign off on letting players go. I don't believe they would ever DFA a $10 million player no matter how bad he may perform.

    Very hesitant about giving Santiago $10 million. With that kind of money, he'll be in the rotation all season long, no matter the results.

    Watched the pilot of "The Good Place" last night. It's actually good so far! I may be biased because I'm a fan of Bell and Danson... But I have hopes that this show can last. The creator of this show also worked on "The Office" and "Parks and Recreation", 2 of my favorite comedies on TV.

    Yeah, one or more of these shows won't last 6 episodes. As much as I like Danson and Bell, that show doesn't look great. Hope to be wrong on that. My front-runner for pulling the plug early is Kevin Can Wait.... I don't believe we are clamoring for another King of Queens type sitcom.

    Tonight: "Gotham" season 3 premiere on Fox. "The Good Place" starring Kristen Bell and Ted Danson - Pilot airs on NBC. "Kevin Can Wait" starring Kevin James - pilot airs on CBS. The commercials look pretty bad. "The Big Bang Theory" - much like "Everybody Loves Raymond" I can't believe this show is still on, and supposedly successful.

    Last year for some reason was the year of OJ... I remember ESPN made a documentary or even a series about it. Then FX jumped on the bandwagon and made this show.

    Kershaw is amazing and a true pleasure to watch on the field. It's a sight to behold when someone has that dominant of stuff to go with impeccable control of his pitches.

    Those were his 2016 SS numbers. Quite frankly his numbers aren't all that different from 2015. Slight uptick in the routine plays from 96.1 (2016) to 98.5% (2015) and a decline in the likely plays 69.2% (2016) 58.3% (2015)

    Out of curiosity I wanted to see Escobar's numbers from Fangraphs and compare it to Polanco... Routine: 96.1% (of 203) ----- Polanco: 96.9% (of 98) Likely: 69.2% (of 13) ----- Polanco: 80% (of 5) Even: 33.3% (of 9) ------ Polanco: 42.9% (of 7) Unlikely: 0% (of 1) ------ Polanco: 25.0% (of 4) Remote: 0% (of 9) --------- Polanco: 0% (of 12) Impossible: 0% (of 2) ---------- Polanco: 0% (of 3) Over the same amount of reps, perhaps Polanco's numbers regress. But just looking at it, there doesn't appear to be too far of a decline in defense if they do choose Polanco to handle SS duties. I may be analyzing this wrong, so feel free to correct if I am.

    I didn't see The People vs. OJ Simpson, but I can't imagine it was better than Fargo... Bokeem Woodbine also got robbed for the Outstanding Supporting Actor Award...
