    Man, I hope you all aren't disappointed with the final stat line... Lots of optimism for a nearly 34 year old.

    .750 OPS is pretty lofty, but it's possible if he doesn't play against lefties. Not sure if I trust Molly to sit Mauer as much as we would like this season. I think he settles in with a .700-.730 OPS for his last full season of starting.

    26th ranked Starting Pitching, and 27th ranked bullpen. This should be a fun year....

    Concur. Andrew Miller hasn't thrown that many innings in a season since 2008. I would not be surprised if there were a few kinks in that hose to put out fires this season. I'm also with you that bullpen usage/strategy has not changed during the regular season. We'll most likely see teams copy the same blueprint Cleveland and Chicago did during the playoffs, but until it happens in the regular season, I'm going to believe in the status quo....

    So now that we've gone through all of the teams, what's everyone's predictions for AL Central Standings at the end of the year? Mine would be: Cleveland 90+ wins Detroit 82-87 wins Kansas City 75-80 wins Chicago 70-75 wins Minnesota 90+ losses

    That's fair. I've heard descriptors for those guys before, and didn't look into it before typing.

    Robertson should be traded for sure. It's similar to the Twins situation with Perkins back in 2012... No reason to have a very good closer on a bad team. Quintana still has 3 years left on his contract and potentially still could be on the next good White Sox team. Unless someone gives them a godfather offer from the farm, I think he stays. If there's one thing we know about the Sox, it's that they let their prospects sink or swim at the MLB level. One thing I'm very jealous about as a Twins fan.

    The thing is, the White Sox didn't really do a "fire sale" per say. They still have All-Star 3B Todd Frazier, slugger 1B Jose Abreu, All-Star closer Dave Robertson, 2 young, good to very good pitchers in Quintana and Rodon. They sold 2 great assets and filled up the cupboards in the minors acquiring their top 4 org prospects this off-season. Their "fire sale" could still happen in July if they choose to sell off the names mentioned in the first paragraph. Until then, they could actually be decent.

    I'm of the belief that if they really wanted Berrios to start the season in Minnesota, they would put together a schedule like this. The "not stretched out enough" explanation for sending down Berrios does make sense, but it's also convenient. And frankly, Sanitago has to do mostly the same schedule you're talking about to get stretched out himself.

    I don't know, it seemed to work briefly for Hughes. I think more importantly, they need to let Santiago pitch the way he always has in the past. When they tried making him pitch with more control last season, he was lit up more than a Christmas tree.

    I'm buying into Santiago being an effective, dare I say, above average starter for this team. If they don't tweak his mechanics too much, and let him pitch "effectively wild" I think he can outperform his FIP once again.

    Agree. Those 5 names will make the opening day bullpen. I'm rooting for Chargois to make it as well! My confidence level in Phil Hughes is very low. They should have another starter be the swing man to mop up multiple innings, and jump into the rotation at a moment's notice. Flip a coin between Mejia and Berrios to see who goes first.

    Yeah I could see that too. They're going to have a couple of down years anyway. Might as well see if they can make one more run with this core if they get off to a hot start.

    Their starting pitching is a detriment to the team, and I don't think their bullpen can make up for average starting pitching anymore. It will be interesting to see who they sell off in July. When you add up the sum of all their parts, it sounds like a good lineup... But on their own, is Hosmer that good? Moustakas? Gordon?

    Agreed. Tonkin is not someone to worry about potentially losing. If you walked into a bar mid-conversation and overheard "He's a decent, not great reliever who throws hard," about 10 names on the Twins could come to mind. At some point, they just need to trim the fat from this huge group of middle relievers.

    I also would not mind Mejia over Berrios for the 5th starter. Really anyone over Vogelsong. Though I did get a good chuckle out of this line describing Vogelsong: "many are impressed with his veteran-ness" Picturing in my head Berrios and Mejia watching in AWE, maybe even recording it on Instagram that a 39 year old can throw a ball 88 MPH.
