    Other positions… where exactly? They’re basically set everywhere except catcher and DH. Free agent pitching is one of the worst ROI in sports.

    I think you missed the obvious choice… they’ve missed Maeda the most this season. He would have been very helpful as a top of the rotation arm.

    Maybe I’m just drunk on all of this positive Twins news today, but I’d love to see what the “rival official” thinks now… The Twins addressed their major flaws; Chicago and Cleveland did nothing.

    Another trade acquisition who can slot ahead of Jax is ideal. I’d call that a successful trade deadline.

    I think we can finally lay to rest the idea of Pagan seeing late inning work. Hopefully whatever Lopez has learned in Baltimore is sustainable. Big fan of the move, and let’s keep it up!

    A 50% markup to get him 5 days earlier? Gonna call BS on that. If it was the offseason, sure. The sellers have a pretty good idea where the offers stand today. All they’re hoping for is someone getting desperate to up the offer by Tuesday, which probably won’t happen.

    Thor is just a bandaid for this year and doesn’t solve anything beyond this year. I’m not a big fan of Montas but I’d rather target him because you get him for 2023. My ideal trade deadline is acquiring a SP with at least 1.5 years of control. The pipe dream is Pablo Lopez, and I would offer something like this: Headliner: Either Larnach or Miranda Near MLB-ready bat: Either Steer or Wallner MiLB Arm: Either SWR or Varland Then acquire 2 rental bullpen arms because in 2023 I have a feeling a number of our younger pitchers will be transitioning to the pen full time. Ober, Balazovic, Sands, and Canterino.

    High aspirations, low expectations. I will be shocked if a front line starter or back end reliever with multiple years of control is acquired. If we’re shooting for the stars, I would go after Pablo Lopez from Miami and make an enticing offer. All I expect is trading for a rental bullpen arm or two.

    Sure, that’s fair. It still feels like they’re grasping at straws hoping Chicago finally clicks when they’ve shown over 4 months they’re nothing more than a .500 team. Chicago’s been on a roller coaster of bad month followed up with good month. Meanwhile the Twins have only been under .500 in June when they went 13-15. Agree with your last sentence though. If the Twins stand pat at the deadline, all bets are off as to who will win the Central.

    I don’t understand why there’s so much confidence in Chicago, who has done nothing but play .500 ball or worse for 4 months. And Cleveland, whose peaks and valleys are more extreme than the Twins.

    If I were Falvey and Levine, I’d be working really hard over the next week to find a salary dump trade for Sano. The only way we get a prospect worth a damn in a trade is if the receiving team gets Sano for the minimum. I think he’s going to have a really difficult time fetching an MLB deal this winter. Most likely an MiLB deal with spring training invite.

    This was the only move they could have made that makes sense. Now we will see how long of a leash Sano has before they reverse course and DFA him.

    A sobering article to remind all of us that there is no such thing as a pitching prospect. Pre-season we had 10, 10!! prospects that had an “ETA” of 2022. We’ve seen Joe Ryan (barely qualifies as a developmental success), Jhoan Duran, and Josh Winder. That’s it.

    I like this development. It still isn’t enough to get me to tune in though. All star games in any major sport does absolutely nothing for me. The only thing baseball has going for them is the game doesn’t fundamentally change. You still need to pitch, hit, and field. Whereas in other sports there is zero effort and zero defense being played.

    Color me intrigued by the knuckle ball pitcher. This draft is a success just because of the 9th round pick. Bring back the knuckle ball!

    It’s strange that we’re now 4 completed seasons into the show, and we know almost nothing about Will Beyers. Setting him up for a huge character arc in the last season will feel forced IMO. Throughout the series he was never the glue or leader that kept the kids together.

    I’ve really enjoyed season 4 of Stranger Things. CGI not too over the top, and intriguing storylines for most of the characters. A few of the kids, now teenagers don’t have much to work with this season like Mike and Jonathan.

    It’s been very disappointing with the lack of progression in the pitching pipeline. During the preseason, TD had 10 pitchers in the top 20 list. Chase Petty traded for Sonny Gray, so 9 remain. Ryan, Duran, and Winder are the ones contributing and the rest are struggling or injured. Balazovic in particular has been an utter disaster this year.
