    Baldelli had a chance to use his bench and pinch hit for Kepler in the 9th, who's not seeing the ball well. Rumor has it on the bench is a turtle who never strikes out and a strong contact hitter... I'm walking away disappointed in Baldelli's decisions today.

    I think this 'Vulnerable' storyline is totally overblown with this team. As Tom said their rotation is incredible. They don't have to try all that hard to get 90 wins with that rotation.

    Now it's 4.3 years of service because they were willing to extend him. Is it an overpay for players that slotted in at #14/15 on the prospect list? I'm still not thrilled about the trade.

    Concur. Even if it's true that he'll be picked up, I don't really care. He won't be a big loss.

    Trade Austin to Baltimore, AKA the AAA team cleverly disguised as an MLB team. Pop on the bench is nice, but not sure I trust bringing in a hitter off the bench that strikes out 30+% of the time.

    Having one trade deadline forces teams to make decisions instead of drag their feet until August. And it creates urgency to make trades in May/June (gasp!) if the team is competitive.

    Concur. I like the roster reduction to 28 players in September the most. While it eliminates the cute stories like James Beresford getting a cup of coffee, it should keep teams honest and competitive.

    I'll be interested to see how teams utilize the extra roster spot next year. It does give additional value to bat first 1B/DH types who've otherwise been phased out of baseball.

    Spring training... The few times in life where you can have it both ways. Perez does well the other day and we hear he's turned the corner. Nothing's gonna stop us now!! Odorizzi gets shelled yesterday and we hear no worries! He's just working on stuff.

    How is this different than Lance Lynn last off-season? Keuchel entered the market anticipating a long term deal and he's most likely on the sidelines mad it hasn't happened. Falvine specifically said this offseason they want to avoid making the same mistakes last year, signing players late in ST that didn't get the long term deal they were hoping for.

    And some should think about who you're quickly coming to defend to the death... I used to be one of them. Not anymore. There's always something going on with Sano, always things that prevent him from being on the field, and always clouded in mystery.
